The NYTimes reports that Amazon is buying audiobook retailer Audible.com for $11.50 a share, or about $300 million. There is no word yet from Amazon on how they plan to integrate Audible into their existing offerings; for example, whether Audible audiobooks will be offered on the Digital Download marketplace with Unbox videos and their recent MP3 music store, or if Audible will be kept separate. The deal is expected to be finalized later in 2008.
