It’s not quite an antique but this post WWII compact is perhaps one of the best examples of the ingenuity of Salvador Dali’s classic designs. Made in partial gilt on silver plate, this ‘Bird-in-Hand‘ compact stumps users with its simplicity of operation and witty construction. The ‘birds’ opens with a push of tab at its tail which enables the opening of the powder section or the base of his tail which can house your pills. You can also slide his head out to reveal a compartment for holding your lipstick. Although the compact is visibly weathered with more than half a century of use but discoloration to its lacquer only adds to its classic appeal. The compact comes with its original puff and all its closures are as good as new which just gives you all the more reason to put your branded compact aside for a while and revel in the glory of this classic Dali. To have this delightful fantasy compact, you need to shell out $1,695.
