AutoSisInstaller Beta is a freeware application that allows you to easily reinstall all your software, programs, applications and games automatically after you format/hard reset your Nokia S60 mobile phone or upgrade the firmware on it.

You just need to create a folder on your storage card called ThinkChange and put all the SISX/JAR installer files in it. Then click StartInstall from the Menu option which will start installing all the files in that folder. Finally a summary pane is displayed indicating sucess and failure.

Another cool use of AutoSisInstaller is that you can share your favorite software with your friends. After installing AutoSisInstaller to the memory card, just plug it into your friend’s mobile device. All applications in the folder will be automatically installed to your friend’s device.

Click here to download and install AutoSisInstaller Beta for Nokia S60 3rd Edition mobile devices.

Fans of teen super sleuth Nancy Drew will be able to rejoice in the fact that a new DS title known as Nancy Drew: The Mystery of the Clue Bender Society will be arriving pretty soon in the mass market. This new mystery boasts the most recognizable teen detective in a race against time to discover and recover one of the most important books in history lest it falls under someone with less altruistic motives. More on the plot and game synopsis below.

In Nancy Drew: The Mystery of the Clue Bender Society, a collective of the world’s top detectives is searching for a talented new member, and Nancy Drew is one of the most promising candidates. To earn society membership, Nancy must first pass an initiation case to prove her worthiness. But when the test case turns real and an important historical book is stolen, it’s up to Nancy to unravel the snowballing whodunit. Living up to her reputation as a super-sleuth, Nancy has to retrieve and identify fingerprints, master mazes, trail and interrogate suspects, and even ride snowmobiles and boats throughout nine graphic novel chapters in order to crack the case. Using the DS’ intuitive Touch Screen, Nancy can interact with objects, solve new contextual mini-games, and access suspect files, clues, tasks and inventory. An all-new cell phone feature helps players keep up with the latest information and Nancy’s handy Clue Journal lets her check current objectives.

You will be able to pick up the E10+ rated Nancy Drew: The Mystery of the Clue Bender Society for $19.99.

Nokia has plans for a proper touch screen handset, but according to the company they won’t be rolling out a high-end handset that is extremely expensive, as they prefer to concentrate on the mass market instead. Perhaps this is more like dipping their toes into the market to see whether this venture is profitable or not. The phone has not been christened yet, but it is due for a release before the end of the year.

Now this Cryptex phone concept is definitely interesting, although I wouldn’t rely on it when I have to dial a number in an emergency. After all, you will need to twist each individual number before a call can be made, making it extremely cool but not user friendly at all. Haptic technology is used for physical feedback whenever you make a call. Designed by March Schomann, the Cryptex phone concept also comes with a vibrate feature that ought to appeal to at least half of the world’s population.

With numerous Sanyo Katana variants already picked up by the No. 3 US wireless carrier, we're not surprised to see this latest Sanyo Katana Eclipse headed to Sprint.

The FCC has just unveiled the newest slim flip-phone from Sanyo. The Sanyo Katana Eclipse features a modest spec-sheet listing a 2 megapixel camera, EVDO, GPS with Sprint Navigation, Bluetooth, microSD card slot, Sprint TV, and a 3.5mm headphone jack. Other than that, details are slim.
Of course, pricing and availability aren't yet known. We'll keep you updated as we learn more about Sprint's upcoming Sanyo Katana Eclipse.

STOCKHOLM, Sweden - Mobile phone maker Sony Ericsson on Friday posted a 97 percent drop in second-quarter earnings and said it would slash 2,000 jobs worldwide in a move to cut costs.

The LM Ericsson and Sony Corp. joint venture blamed the earnings decline on tougher market conditions, higher development costs and negative effects from exchange rate fluctuations.

Company spokeswoman Lisa Canning in London said the company would cut 2,000 jobs "within the next 12 months" as part of an effort to reduce operational costs by 300 million euros ($470 million) per year.

In a statement, Sony Ericsson President Hideki Komiyama said his company estimates restructuring charges to "be of the same magnitude as our reduction in operating expenses."

Net profit in the quarter fell to 6 million euros ($9.5 million), down sharply from 220 million euros in the same period a year ago.

Sales were down about 9 percent to 2.8 billion ($4.4 million), from 3.1 million euros in the second quarter in 2007.

The company had warned already last month that it expected to just break even before taxes in the quarter because of tougher competition and a continued slowing market growth in its mid- to high-end phones.

It was the second profit warning this year from Sony Ericsson, which usually ranks fourth or fifth among the world's biggest mobile phone makers.

"Challenging market conditions are expected to prevail for Sony Ericsson for at least the rest of 2008," the company said, "in particular for the third quarter."

Sony Ericsson's results were in stark contrast to the better-than-expected earnings report by market leader Nokia Corp. on Thursday. Nokia, which makes four of 10 handsets sold worldwide, said it expected the global market for cell phones to grow by 10 percent or more in 2008, upgrading an earlier estimate.

Sony Ericsson forecast the global market to grow at around 10 percent but with a continued decline in average selling prices.

The average selling price for Sony Ericsson handsets fell in the second quarter to 116 euros ($185), from 125 euros, because of a wider range of cheaper phones in its product portfolio and price competition on more expensive phones.

The company said its gross margin dropped to 23.1 percent, from 29.6 percent in the second quarter of 2007, while research and development costs jumped by 22 percent to 344 million euros ($545 million).

Shipped units reached 24.4 million in the quarter, Sony Ericsson said.

source

Nokia has plans for a proper touch screen handset, but according to the company they won't be rolling out a high-end handset that is extremely expensive, as they prefer to concentrate on the mass market instead. Perhaps this is more like dipping their toes into the market to see whether this venture is profitable or not. The phone has not been christened yet, but it is due for a release before the end of the year.
