Philips was the first to introduce its Ambilight technology in the market that aims to make your TV viewing experience as pleasant as possible, and this time round they have upped the ante with the Aurea II active frame. The image on the screen will be replicated in a glow form via an increased amount of LEDs in order to match whatever the screen color on the screen is at the moment. In Philips' own words, it "accurately identifies dominant on-screen colours and generates precisely matched ambient lighting both via the Active Frame and independently from all four sides of the screen onto a rear wall". Features include :-

30,000:1 dynamic contrast

2ms response time

100Hz Clear LCD system

Six invisible speakers

This 29" flat panel TV will retail for £2,499.

G.Skill (weird name that) of Taiwan has a couple of solid state drives for the masses, and just like many other products from the Far East, they aim to offer the best bang for your buck, although sometimes there are quality control issues to contend with like the recent melamine scare. Still, we would think G.Skill wouldn't skimp on QC with these economical ultra-performance SATA II 2.5" Solid State Drives (SSD) that rely on NAND MLC flash storage medium. You will be able to choose from 64GB and 128GB storage capacities, and they are protected by a sturdy metal alloy housing to prevent damage in the event of an unwanted knock or drop. G.Skill touts a read and write speed of 155MB/sec and 90MB/sec, respectively, coupled with a sub-0.2ms access time. Sounds good? If only we had the pricing details before we can make up our minds...
