I am sure you are all familiar now with the debacle that was the launch of BA Terminal 5 at Heathrow - essentially over 20,000 bags were/are "lost" (temporarily or otherwise) during the ensuing chaos, after the terminal opened - and a LOT of passengers clearly were/are not very happy about it!

Silicon.com has aggregated a number of it's readers' comments in to one place, and being as it's a tech site, some are IT/Mobile-related in one way or another - you can read the full set here).

Of course, from a "Mobile" perspective, the are numerous stories about peoples' "Tech" or "Gadgets" going missing - one of the most high profile though, is that of DJ Calvin Harris. He has been working on new album for 7 months apparently, of which all his media was on a Laptop that has gone for a unexpected "luggage sabbatical" - his comment on the situation was as follows:

"We went over to Miami last Thursday to play some gigs, and the nice people/robots at Heathrow's Terminal 5 lost all our bags, including my hard drive, with all my f****** songs on.

"I have been walking in circles for a couple of days, and I will continue to do so until I meet the man/robot responsible and set him/it on fire. I shall overcome! Once he's on fire."

Somewhat harsh you could say, but what a piercing turn of phrase - clearly the dude ain't happy!

digg_url = 'http://digg.com/gadgets/HARV_gives_soldiers_a_robot_s_eye_view'; While battlefield robots are certainly plenty capable with their current control systems, the folks at Chatten Associates seem to think they can do things one better, and they're now touting their so-called HARV (Head-Aimed Remote Viewer) system as a potential alternative. That consists of a gimbal-mounted video system on the robot itself, which gets paired with some gyro-equipped goggles that let the robot to look around wherever the soldier moves his head. Of course, they didn't stop things there, with the setup also offering a 36x optical zoom, night vision, and other advantages that Chatten says can improve mission performance by 300% to 400%. As if that wasn't enough, the firm's also now apparently hard at work on an updated system set for delivery to the military next year that'll add a thermal imager, a higher resolution, and a laser rangefinder, among other things they're probably not willing to tell us. Head on over after the break for a video of the system in action.

Having owned the Nokia N93, I know that having a phone with the optical zoom is a great thing. That being said I find all those “optical zoom addons” for regular camera phones quite interesting. They are not big, hence are easy to carry around…

Today we’re presenting you with the optical zoom addon for the iPhone. The Conice 6×18 Zoom Attachment may look kinda ugly compared with the device it should be mounted to, but for $15 you can hardly find the more useful accessory for your shiny handset. As you can guess from the name of it, this baby adds 6x optical zoom, allowing you to comfortably spy on others from a safe distance. Not that we’re suggesting you should. It’s just an option.
