Finally, it’s not just the uber-cool N97 Nokia has unveiled at their Nokia World. They also went out with three brand new accessories:

  • Nokia Home Music is a music device for home which brings internet radio, podcasts, and FM radio at the touch of a button. It can connect to mobile phone, PC or a compatible digital music player. Specs wise, there’s WiFi radio on board, and an array of connectors — including standard 3.5mm headphone jack, 3.5mm line-in, USB, Ethernet, SPDIF Optical output, RCA line-out.
  • Nokia Internet Stick CS-10 - the Finnish giant’s latest HSPA modem that supports up to 7.2mbps in downlink and up to 2.0mbps in uplink speeds.
  • Finally, Nokia Extra Power DC-11 is an external battery for those that need an extra juice from time to time. It features two separate charging connectors, allowing simultaneous charging of up to two devices via micro USB and/or Nokia’s 2mm charging interface.

And that’s about it. I like that Home Music system, especially. I could easily envision it sitting at the table in my room. Until next time, I’ll keep hating the wires… :)

Imagine releasing a handset that you hope will do well (when you’re in Motorola’s position, virtually any phone released ought to do well so that you can keep your business operations afloat) on the same day that one of your much larger rival unveils their flagship handset. We’re talking about the Nokia N97 here people, and this smartphone outguns Motorola’s whimper of a MOTOROKR EM35 by all accounts. Still, it wouldn’t be unfair to write off the EM35 without taking a closer look at it, so leave pen your comments once you’re done with this post right after the jump.

First of all, the Motorola MOTOROKR EM35 is not meant to be a high end handset by all accounts, although you can tell by its naming convention that this will be a music-centric phone. First of all, it is capable of amplifying your conversations while reducing background noise courtesy of its CrystalTalk technology, which is able to offer superior voice quality and personalized noise adaptation for a noticeable difference in the clarity and intelligibility of conversations despite being right smack in the middle of a noisy environment. In addition, the EM35 comes with a secondary microphone that helps eliminate more ambient background noise from the call.

This slider handset will also come with a full range of dedicated music control keys to ensure you’re at the top of your game at all times. You will be able to listen via its built-in stereo speakers or rely on stereo Bluetooth connectivity, or even remain tethered via 3.5mm wired headphones - it all really boils down to what you want. Other features include the FastScroll navigation wheel, pre-installed widgets, an integrated FM radio and SONGID technology that makes it easier to identify unknown tracks that have gotten your feet tapping. You can expect to see the MOTOROKR EM35 arrive later this year for a yet undisclosed price.

A Japanese company called Landport has taken speaker portability to a minimalistic extreme by recently announcing the launch of the Cube Speaker. The Cube speaker is so tiny that it fits well within a small portion of your palm and measures a cubic side of 26mm, with an output of 0.8Watts. That's portability or what.

Connection to an external device (iPod, other mp3 players, and CD players) is via a small, antenna-like 3.5mm jack positioned over the speaker. And you can charge the speaker by connecting it to a computer via the USB port at the back. The playback time is pretty decent as well - you get four to five hours of playtime after a two-hour charging session.

We think the iPods look rather uncomfortably perched over the speakers, but that’s only because being small brings along its share disadvantages too. If you want to give the midgets a go, the Cube speakers are to be available in Japan (only) by December and will be priced at $25 a cube.

ROKR EM35 has an integrated FM antenna that enables FM radio to be played over stereo Bluetooth or external stereo speakers without the use of a headset.
