Gamers have now another headphone in the list to choose from. Razer just announced the Megalodon 7.1 headphones which feature advanced technologies from the company. I say, when it comes to looks, I rather like it, but when it comes to gaming headphones, it’s more than just what could be seen at face value that matters.

The Razer Megalodon 7.1 is a surround round gaming headset that uses the brand’s new Maelstrom Audio Engine. Using that technology, positional audio cues are processed 800% faster than other virtual surround sound headphones. The Megalodon 7.1 is equipped with a mic for in-game conversations as well as controls to adjust the volumes. For sale on the fourth quarter of 2008, the Razer Megalodon 7.1 will retail for around US$149.99.

TV Widgets Bring "Best of the Internet" Experience to Complement TV Viewing

INTEL DEVELOPER FORUM, SAN FRANCISCO, – Intel Corporation and Yahoo! Inc. previewed plans for the Widget Channel, a television (TV) application framework optimized for TV and related consumer electronics (CE) devices that use the Intel Architecture. The Widget Channel will allow consumers to enjoy rich Internet applications designed for the TV while watching their favorite TV programs. The Widget Channel will be powered by the Yahoo! Widget Engine, a fifth-generation applications platform that will enable TV watchers to interact with and enjoy a rich set of "TV Widgets," or small Internet applications designed to complement and enhance the traditional TV watching experience and bring content, information and community features available on the Internet within easy reach of the remote control. The Widget Channel will also allow developers to use JAVASCRIPT®, XML*, HTML* and Adobe Flash® technology to write TV applications for the platform, extending the power and compatibility of PC application developer programs to TV and related CE devices. In addition to supporting the Yahoo! Widget Engine, Yahoo! will also provide consumers Yahoo!-branded TV Widgets that are customized based on its category-leading Internet services.

TV Widgets will enable consumers to engage in a variety of experiences, such as watching videos, tracking their favorite stocks or sports teams, interacting with friends, or staying current on news and information. Intel Architecture
Intel Architecture (IA) is at the heart of millions of PC-, MID- and server-based Internet clients, which has helped enable the proliferation of Internet-based content and services while providing users with an uncompromised Internet experience. Accelerating the delivery of the Internet to the TV, Intel today extended performance, headroom and connectivity of IA into a new family of "purpose built" system-on-chip (SoC) media processors for Internet-connected CE devices, including optical media players, U.S. cable set-top-boxes, digital TVs and other connected audio visual products.

iZotopes beat-making iDrum hits Apple App Store

iZotope, which is known for its tools for musicians and audio professionals, recently announced that its beat-making app iDrum is available for the Apple iPhone and iPod Touch. The new application makes beat-making available to everyone with its simple interface and professionally produced content.

iDrum allows users to combine professional sound content and patterns to create their own music. The iDrum application takes advantage of unique features of the iPhone platform — users can tap virtual pads to create rhythms, shake the handset to clear patterns, and use slide and flick gestures to navigate the application’s interface. Immersive, colorful visuals show the relationship between different sounds in the beat, allowing users to create new rhythms by creating visual patterns. Using a special companion application, beats can even be turned into ringtones for iPhone.

iDrum combines iPhone-like easy to use user interface with the power and professional sound of the original iDrum to “let even users with no musical experience create original beats.”

At the moment, two version of iDrum are available from AppStore - Hip Hop and Club Edition, and each one of them costs $4.99. iZotope plans to release different genre-based editions of iDrum in the coming months…

You know how it goes with Sony -- proprietary just seems to rule the roost. Thankfully, the outfit is at least recognizing a trend in the market by trotting out an iPod-friendly version of its S-AIR wireless audio technology. The new S-AIRPLAY system (formally known as AIR-SA20PK) comes with one iPod docking station and a pair of S-AIR wireless speakers, though there is an AM / FM tuner built in should your stored jams get stale. Sony suggests that music can be beamed some 164-feet away from the dock sans cabling, and so long as your S-AIR speaker is plugged into a power outlet (and within the aforementioned range), it'll pick up the signal and start talkin'. Look for the kit to land next month for around $400, while additional S-AIR wireless speakers will set you back $130 apiece. Full release after the break.

Tie Fighter Webcam: Vader has you now

Those of you who have no fear of the dark side should have no qualms about the Darth Vader Tie Fighter webcam watching you.

Not only will it sit atop your computer and record audio and video images with a built-in microphone, but it also has sound effects from the movies. You got to admire the two red lights in front of it, and it takes me back to the days of Kenner toys.

There is a new Bose Sound dock on the way and while many gadget sites have said that you will not find many changes in the specifications, they may be a little wrong, especially when it comes to Apple iPhone 3G owners.

On my desk in front of me is a nice Bose Sound Dock, and while its got an amazing sound, it hates the iPhone 3G. When you put the latest iPhone on the dock, it will not charge the device.
