Few days ago, Samsung has announced the “European wide market availability” of its iPhone-killin’ i900 Omnia smartphone. Currently, the all-touchscreen device is available in Italy, Netherlands, and Germany; and will be available in most of European countries including UK, France, Spain from September.

And that’s about all we have from the Samsung’s release. In the rest of the text they’re talking how Europeans crave for multimedia features on their mobile phones and even provide data to prove it…

Here’s the link to the full release if you care to know more.

With the availability of cool mobile phones, some people no longer bother to have a watch since they can just look into the screen of their phone and see what time it is. Presently, though not in general, wearing a watch is more of a fashion material used to make one’s appearance more stylish than a gadget used to indicate time.

This scenario is seen by Denis Guidone and it gave him the idea to design a watch. He called his work Ora Unica which means “one hour” in English. The watch is not like the watches we usually know. It does not have hour, minute and seconds hands and it is also not digital. All it shows is a quirky scribble. According to Guidone, time can be distinguished just by looking at the single line drawn on the two circular faces where one is inside the other. The image shows the faces resembling gestures that change as time goes by.

This design was recognized at the Adamo Eva International Design Competition. It was awarded as the first place.

I have to say, it might be tricky telling the correct time using this watch.

Ready to play game? Well, with any of these three new monster gaming laptops from MSI (GX400, GX630, and GT735), you’ll be ready to play your favourite PC games anytime, anywhere. Let’s start checking the MSI GX400 notebook first. This 14.1-inch Centrino 2-based machine is powered by an Intel Core 2 Duo processor and an nVidia GeForce 9600M GT graphics engine. It also boasts a 4GB of DDR2 RAM, up to 500GB of HDD, a DVD burner (or Blu-Ray drive), an integrated webcam module, and a HDMI output.

MSI GX630 laptop comes with almost similar specs than GX400 series. Except that it has a bigger display, 15.4-inch in dimension. The rest are the same, including CPU, video cards, memory, etc.

As for MSI GT735 gaming laptop (picture above), it sports a 17-inch display, an AMD Turion X2 Ultra processor (based on AMD Puma technology), and an ATI Mobility Radeon HD3850 graphics engine.

Other features found on those notebooks include an Intel Turbo Drive Engine technology — enables users to increase the speed of the CPU when the laptop is in AC mode by pushing the turbo button — and ECHO Engine power management function — enables switching among 5 different operation modes – Gaming mode, Movie mode, Presentation mode, Office mode, and power saving Turbo Battery mode.

Unfortunately, no single words on pricing and availability from the company.

The T-Mobile Shadow II (2) has been floating around of late, with various spy pics and details leaking out on to the various interwebs. It was only a matter of time before definitive pricing and availability information was released.

The T-Mobile Shadow II will apparently launch on T-Mobile (naturally) on October 15 with a $149.99 price tag (after rebate and new contract, of course). The release date falls nicely in line with our Q4 2008 launch expectations.

The T-Mobile Shadow successor is set to hit the scene with Windows Mobile 6.1 in tow, and should make quick work of web surfing or VoIP calling with integrated WiFi. The inclusion of WiFi also means the T-Mobile Shadow II will be getting down with the carrier’s T-Mobile HotSpot @Home UMA service for those times when you just don’t want to use wireless minutes to make a call from your home.

The T-Mobile Shadow II is, just like its predecessor, based on hardware from HTC. This time around, T-Mobile has taken the HTC Cleopatra and re-branded the handset as the T-Mobile Shadow II.

What’s not clear is whether or not the T-Mobile Shadow II will support T-Mobile’s nascent 3G network on the 1700Mhz AWS band. T-Mobile, for some reason, isn’t all that forthcoming about which of their new handsets will be compatible with the up-and-coming 1700Mhz 3G network. The carrier has previously failed to mention 3G compatibility on upcoming handsets like the Sony Ericsson TM506 Bella, only to turn around later and admit that the handset was 1700Mhz 3G-compatible all along. So, the T-Mobile Shadow II will likely be a 3G T-Mobile handset, but we’ll stop short of declaring it so.

That’s right! Sony’s Blu-ray disc charger offers BD-Live capability, RS-232C controls and is able to hold up to 400 Blu-ray discs. That’s amazing! You can add all of your Blu-ray movie collection onto this Blu-ray charger. The device is also compatible with DVDs and CDs. The pricing and availability info are still unknown. I am sure it will be expensive. [CruchGear]

I guess I’m happy to say that I’ve lived to see the days where VGA signals can be transmitted wirelessly, thanks to Cables To Go. The new TruLink Wireless USB to VGA Adapter Kit is on parade at this year’s CEDIA event, relying on UWB technology that sends your UXGA/WSXGA signals within a 30 foot radius, capable of streaming 720p video over a similar distance as well. This works in the same manner as IOGEAR’s Wireless USB to VGA kit, and it is nice to see other manufacturers taking up the task to make sure such technology floods the market, making it cheaper for the layman in the end. There is no word on pricing or availability.

We have featured before the car that has a breathalyzer which monitors the alcohol level of drivers. Now, another concept car is created that intends to give a medical analysis too. This time, it concerns the glucose level of the drivers, particularly the diabetic ones.

Medtronic, a medical device manufacturing company created the M-Powered Concept Car. The car features an onboard glucose monitoring system positioned right a t the dashboard. The set-up works as the driver wears a continuous glucose monitoring system (CGMS) and via Bluetooth, the data is transmitted to the wireless system. Audio and visual cues from the car’s dashboard show the readings of the driver’s blood sugar level.

This helps diabetics avoid losing consciousness and a hypoglycemic attack. When the reading indicates that the blood sugar level is too low, the driver can pull over and go to the nearest restaurant or rest stop as directed by the system. It works like a GPS system.

M-Powered Concept Car was presented at the 68th Annual Scientific Sessions of the American Diabetes Association. As of the moment, there is no update yet regarding the availability of the system. But the people behind the project are hopeful that by the time it gets out in the market, the car will have more useful elements to offer.
