We have seen a few combination gadgets here on Coolest Gadgets. Like ones that include a light, microphone and webcam. Well this one doesn’t include quite that much technology, but it at least combines a couple to free up some workspace on your desk. If for some reason you don’t have iTunes running on your main computer, then the set of speakers attached to the lamp might come in handy to hook your iPod up to. Of course this is yet another fairly cheap USB product, so the speakers aren’t going to be stellar but they’ll at least get the job done.

The light itself is an LED lamp that has nine bright and shiny LEDs to make sure you can see the task at hand. This would also be nice if you tend to take your laptop to the living room and work on the coffee table to have a small easy to move lamp for task lighting as well as some music. It has all the usual on/off switches as well as volume control directly on it. It comes in both pink and green and is being sold on Gadget4all for $22.50.

Mitsubishi is proud to present their first ultra-bright HD (1920 x 1080) resolution projector, the HD8000. This model was designed for exposed, brighter home theaters where controlling the light is difficult of even impossible. The HD8000’s 5000 ANSI lumens are more than bright enough to show images in the brightest rooms. It is also light weight, less than 22 lbs, which makes mounting this projector on the ceiling easy. The HD8000 uses three 1.1 inch LCD panels that are designed for larger home theaters and is able to display full HD (1920 x 1080) resolution. This projector also comes with a wide variety of input connections including, DVI, BNC, RCA, and s-video which will accommodate any electronic device you want to connect to it. Unfortunately the HD800 does not have an HDMI connection. However, it does come with a DVI-to-HDMI adapter in the box. The HD8000 also offers RJ-45 LAN networking support for connecting the projector to your automated home control system. This feature is also good for commercial establishments like restaurants or sports bars. The HD8000 will be available later this month and will retail for just under $15000. It will also come with a three year warranty for parts and labor.

This time round, the company has released a second generation model - the Xacti E2. I would assume if you lead a relatively active lifestyle, whether during the winter or summer, the Xacti E2 would be extremely convenient since it is able to function well even when underwater up to 5 feet, with a maximum underwater shelf life of an hour before it sleeps with the fishes. Of course, the Xacti E2 also works great when you go skiing or snowboarding, in addition to other water based stops like snorkeling, surfing and water-skiing.

The Xacti E2 can function even when one of your hands are occupied, making it the perfect device when it comes to shooting casual yet important videos. You will be able to choose from brilliant blue or pearlescent white for $399.99 a pop. The E2 will capture MPEG-4 video that uses state-of-the-art AVC/H.264 recording. It supports the SDHC memory card format, where an 8GB SDHC card is able to store up to 8 hours of full motion video or 2,000 still images at 8 megapixels each. Other features include :-

Casio EX Z150

Hey, Casio: Time to call Jenny Craig. Your formerly slim, sexy Exilim cameras have ballooned up like William Shatner. Witness the EX-Z150, a chunky, pocket-sagging model that looks like it has a glandular disorder. Fortunately, like the fat guy on the basketball court who hits every jumper, the Z150 quickly proves its worth.

To instantly win the mine’s-better-than-yours contest, show friends the Z150's gorgeous three-inch LCD. It’s mammoth for a camera with a sub-$200 price tag, and bright enough to see in direct sunlight. You can also fire off a group shot without having to take the customary 20 steps back to fit everybody in: The Z150's wide-angle lens (28mm) offers a dramatically broader field of view than most pocket cams. Meanwhile, the lens zooms to 4x before the digital faux-zoom kicks in—that’s a whole "x" better than other models in this price range.

Idjit-proof controls and logical onscreen menus make the Z150 a camera anyone can pick up and use sans manual, though its small, cramped control pad hurts the overall ergonomics. Users with Shatner-size fingers will have trouble. One saving grace: a dedicated video-record button. Press it to start capturing YouTube-friendly movies at 30 fps, then again to stop. Note to other camera makers: Steal this button! Casio bundles a handy YouTube uploader utility, but you have to install it the old-fashioned way: from a CD. We're spoiled by Flip Video's camcorders, which run their software when you plug 'em in.

Available in five colors (including pink for her and Corvette red for him), the Z150 tops out at 8.1 megapixels—more than adequate for the party scene (birthday and otherwise). A generous helping of “Best Shot” presets takes the guesswork out of shooting fireworks, auction photos, candlelight vigils, and the like. But as you might expect, the camera produces considerable image noise when the lights are low and the ISO high. With sufficient lighting, however, you’ll get smooth, sharp, well-balanced photos. Only the color reproduction disappoints: It’s good, but lacking that zing we see in competing models from, say, Canon.

Of course, some of Canon’s pocket shooters tend toward the bulky as well, so we can forgive the EX-Z150 its slightly excessive carriage. And we’re mad for its big screen, sweet wide-angle lens, and affordable price. Priceline Shatner would be proud. —Rick Broida

WIRED Wide-angle lens just plain kicks ass, and 4x optical zoom gets you close without using your feet. One-touch video recording and YouTube upload software make this the perfect camera for Paris/Lindsay/Bigfoot sightings.

TIRED Too thick and heavy to leave in your pocket all day. Small, stiff control pad. Snapshot colors lack pop. Battery must be removed for charging.

$200, casio.com

I had the good fortune to review the BRAZO table lamp by Pablo Designs, winner of a 2008 IDEA award. The BRAZO is a high performance LED task light offering effortless adjustability, calibrated light focus (more on that later), and brightness control all wrapped in a sleek aluminum body. Intrigued? Read on.

Upon first glance, the precision machined aluminum body speaks volumes about the build quality. It’s hefty - in a good way. It comes fully assembled except for the base which you just screw on. Excited I immediately plugged it in and came away with both positive and negative conclusions.

The LEDs are bright. The built in dimmer, cleverly integrated into the fully adjustable arm, quickly ramps up the illumination. We’re talking 450 lumens here. Plenty powerful for a task light and on par with CFL and incandescent varieties. I decided to leave it at a lower setting, just enough to achieve that eery glow.

Adjusting where you want the arm and where to focus the light couldn’t be easier. The stem telescopes from 14″ to 21″. The arm swings 360º effortlessly. The mechanism seems finely tuned. There’s no awkward bounce or tension. Smooth is the best way I can describe it. The glass tube housing the 18 LEDs can rotate to focus the light. Amazingly nothing gets hot. Heat dissipation seems to have been a priority since the glass tube is open on one end.

What I didn’t like was the light color. I know I know, I’m only bias because my eyes are used to the warm glow of incandescents. The stark white, almost medical lab like color took time getting used to. Not to mention there are a lot of metals and woods in my home decor. The harsh lighting did nothing to bring out the warm rich colors. I don’t purport to be an expert in lighting but I would think LEDs could be tuned to cast a warmer color.

At $400 it’s not cheap but you get what you pay for. If you want a cutting edge lamp that bleeds style and quality - go for it. After a week I’m finding the BRAZO lamp has become the most used light in my home office. I may hate the color it casts but in hindsight, it doesn’t compete with my computer screen the way a CFL or incandescent lamp does and that’s super important to any designer.

Don’t you hate it when you’re working in bright light on a pet project of yours, but when dusk falls, the same amount of light that you want isn’t available any more, forcing you to take a break and wait for the next day? Designer David Ngo calls the Stimuli 3.0 “a lighting system whose shape and therefore light output sensitively varies inversely with the surrounding natural light intensity. For example, at dusk, illumination gradually increases as natural light recedes. At the heart of this device is a unique 3 axis gear box which enables this subtle alteration of lighting through an attractive and striking change in form of the device.” Too bad this is but a concept that will probably not see the light (pardon the pun) of day.

This USB Desk Lamp doubles up as a speaker as well, with nine bright LED lights to help you read those fine print on your legal documents late into the night. You can choose to hook it up to your computer via USB, or leave it unplugged and let the internal rechargeable batteries get to work instead. The pair of speakers are located at the base of the device, but don't expect these to cause a commotion in your room when turned on - it is probably good only for use as a personal speaker minus the bass and all that jazz. The USB Desk Lamp and Speaker will retail for $22.50, coming in pink or green colors.
