LG Electronics is back again with a with yet another 8 megapixel shooter in the form of the LG KC780. This slim handset concentrates mostly on digital photography (and basic communications) as its strongest suite, so if you’re looking for an all rounder cell phone, you can give the LG KC780 a pass. First of all, I must note that the 13.9mm thickness is rather fetching, and despite its apparent slimness, LG managed to squeeze in a 2.4″ widescreen LCD display (perfect to capture those portrait shots) and a Schneider-Kreuznach certified lens that is able to shoot high quality photos that will surely amaze you at first glance.

One of the smart technologies found in the LG KC780 is Face Detection, and this will automatically find and focus on people’s faces so that the photographer is able to capture clearer portrait shots. In addition, LG’s Smile Detection technology is smart enough to recognize the angle of people’s mouths and adjust focus for faces. Good to see such features appear on a cell phone, where they were once the domain of dedicated digital cameras. While the LG KC780 won’t have the full functionality of a digital camera, it has enough to make this function as a backup just in case your primary shooter dies due to lack of battery or some other unfortunate inconvenience. You will be able to choose from automatic modes, a Beauty Mode that removes spots and imperfections on people’s faces, high ISO 1600, SmartLight setting for optimal brightness settings and an integrated Image Stabilizer.

You can also capture DVD resolution video with this, although I won’t expect many to use this feature due to the amount of memory such files take up. Other features include Bluetooth connectivity, a webcam function and Motion Sensor games. You will be able to pick up the LG KC780 this November in Europe, to be followed by Asian releases in due time.

It’s a design for a yo-yo that has a LI battery cell that gets charged when you play with it. Ingenious, isn’t it? Who would have ever thought of something like that?

Touch screen cell phones are all the rage these days, but unfortunately for many, one of the major drawback of such a display is this - there is no tactile feedback whatsoever to let you know that you have managed to make a selection on the screen itself. Of course, haptic feedback does change the game quite a bit, but not by much. After all, having my handset vibrate with each selection I make isn’t exactly an indication of me making the right choice. The Nokia concept aims to bring things to the next level with a small pump that fills a substrate right under the display, offering one’s fingers something to feel and press. Don’t think this concept will ever make it to production anytime soon though - maybe in 5 years’ time?

Well, I’ve always wanted to make this site that would shorten your affiliate links and finally did it today so check it out, it’s called CozyURL.com:

Well, here’s another site called CozyURL.com I made today in about 2 hours while chatting on G-mail with Josh.

I didn’t add any graphics so it’s fast and you can easily access it from mobile devices too.

It’s basically a site that will shorten URLs like http://sdfkcs.com/jdsf923jfdsaf to http://CozyURL/120.

It’s a free site and your link will permanently remain so please knock yourself out the next time you need to shorten that long GoogleMaps URL, or simply want to remember one number for viewing the site on your mobile phone.

I might open-source the code since some of you might like to make your own, so leave a comment if you want it.

Samsung has recently added a new cell phone to its Korean website. The latest SPH-W6300 Cell Phone is a slider model. It measures 103.2 x 48.6 x 17.4 mm and weigh just 108 g. Its 2.2 inch LCD bears a resolution of 240×320 dots. The 960mAh battery offers a continuous talk time of about 275 hours ~ 430 hours. It also equips HSDPA Radio Internet. The model looks cool but lacks many vital features. The company is mum on its price and availability.

If you're interested, the 3-cell battery Wind, good for about 2 hours of battery life, can be picked up for $430 after rebates. (A 6-cell Aspire One is just $400). The Wind has 120GB of storage as opposed to 160GB on the Aspire, but the Wind also features a 1-inch-bigger, 10" screen. Those interested in a 6-cell Wind will pay $480 after rebates.

Electronics giant Samsung has had its fair share of hits over the years, including a fair number of cell phones that have done pretty well internationally by cramming in as many features as possible into a slim and svelte form factor, while their line of LCD TVs have wowed audiences everywhere, not to mention a wide range of electrical appliances that serve millions of homes faithfully worldwide. How about hard drives? Well, Samsung is making a splash this time round with the S2 and S1 mini portable hard drives that is meant to end up with a road warrior and not to sit down idly at the desk in your home.

First off we have the S2 external hard drive that takes in a 2.5″ hard drive, while the S1 mini is much smaller at just 1.8″, so you can tell that the latter won’t be able to store that much data while you’re on the go, although that doesn’t mean it has diminished performance. Using a USB controller inside the conventional hard drive, Samsung has managed to churn out devices with a smaller case footprint compared to its competitors, while the on-board technology will see a reduction in weight as well as power consumption, helping your notebook battery last much longer while you’re out on the road with the S1 mini/S2 connected. Nice to know Samsung has furthered green technology in both models, boasting a power savings intelligence program that monitors the drive’s use. This technology will coerce the drive into a low power “sleep mode” whenever the drive is left idle for 10 minutes or more.

You will be able to pick up the 2.5″ Samsung S2 in 160GB, 250GB, 320GB and 500GB capacities. Just in case you’re interested in a size comparison, the S2 will be 17% smaller in terms of form factor compared to the rest of its competition. As for the 1.8″ S1 mini, that model is available in 80GB, 120GB and 160GB capacities. Look out for both in the US sometime in the fourth quarter.

It started with her working at a sandwich shop when a customer entered and got in line while talking on her cell phone. When the counter person tried to take the her order, what do you think the customer did? Said "hang on" to the person she was talking to and made the order? Told the person on the other line she'd call him back after she left the place of business?

Nope. The customer on the cell phone told the person on the other end of the line that the guy trying to help her behind the counter was being rude. By trying to do his job and help her. If that's not galling enough, when the customer with the really important phone call got to Jyramiah at the register, she had the nerve to complain about the sandwich guy being rude by interrupting her phone call. To hear what Jyramiah said to her, just

What are Samsung's names coming dangerously close to? Ladies' razor names! Both are often pink, both are marketed at women, and both are indispensable yet frustrating. Samsung is helping to blur the lines, too.

Take my quiz and see if you can distinguish between the name of a hot new cell phone and a flowery razor found lining Target's aisles!
