Take yourself back twenty-five years ago, when IBM computers ruled the Earth. Do you remember how loud those keyboards were? Today’s laptops and desktops are practically silent compared to the way those old school keyboards would click at the slightest touch. Loud as they were, there was something about the way the keys clicked that made you feel that work was being done.

Das Keyboard has brought back the clickity-clack magic with their Professional and Ultimate keyboard models. The clicking comes from gold-plated key switches that are the product of the German Cherry engineering corporation.

Both of the keyboards have a sleek glossy black design. The Professional has the traditional look of a keyboard, but the Ultimate has keys that are completely unlabeled for a very unique look.

Both the Das Keyboard keyboards install easily to a laptop or desktop with the long (6.6 foot) USB cord. They have two USB ports on the side for charging or syncing with any USB related devices the user may want. Another feature is the n-key function which allows the simultaneous hitting of 12 keys all at once.

Both the Das Keyboard Professional and Ultimate are available off the company website for about $129.00.

When it comes to keyboards, we just have to keep removing the clickity-click sound. Just think of how quiet your laptop is in comparison to say, a typewriter.

I suppose the next radical step is here with the No-key Keyboard by designer Kong Fanwen. It is the flattest QWERTY keyboard to this writing, and it uses camera and lighting as well as motion capture technology in order to figure out what letters or numbers that you just typed.

Even though this photo shows the keyboard immersed in water, I haven't heard if this keyboard is water-resistant.

I am not certain whether or not this will be available soon, but it certainly is a unique design on something that we all know.

This keyboard is a Really Cool keyboard, as in that’s its name. What’s so cool about it, you ask? It’s waterproof. Admit it, you’ve spilled coffee or soda on your keyboard before, rendering it sticky and useless, much like our own Peter Ha.

It’s also quiet, unlike Peter, meaning you won’t disturb your fellow cubiclemates with your clickity-clack while updating your precious Facebook.

Plus, it looks pretty cool, as far as keyboards go. It’s available in white or black and uses a standard USB connection. No special drivers are needed, and it has other optional features like MacBook Pro-like backlighting. Really Cool indeed.

If one thinks about it, a proper keyboard should have a good tactile feel, minimize wrist and shoulder pain, and have some flexibility with the function keys.

I admit I’m not a touch typist, but I have mastered the hunt and peck style of typing and fully utilize the cut, paste and spell check combinations for successful clickity-clack typing.

Well last week was the song made exclusively with sounds from Windows 98 and XP, and now comes the Mac version. Made with only sound effects from Mac OSX, it sounds like lots of der-ders, ding dings and clickity clicks. That said, it's kind of growing on me. Now I would like to take this time to open for discussion who made the better song -- the Windows or Mac user. Okay, discussion closed. And the winner is...they both wasted their time.

Modu's tiny cellphone could be inserted into multiple "jackets" to change its function. Or better said, the Modu phone carries your data, giving your personality to whatever gadget you insert it into,...

Modu's tiny cellphone could be inserted into multiple "jackets" to change its function. Or better said, the Modu phone carries your data, giving your personality to whatever gadget you insert it into, GameBoy cartridge style. After seeing all the pictures of the different jackets and the announced prices, the video and the idea makes a lot more sense now.

As you can see, Modu can be operated on its own as a very simple cellphone or become a full-fledge multimedia phone, a portable media player, a car sound system, a full car GPS, a bike mini-GPS, a toaster or a fully armed, fully operational battle station. Maybe, not so sure about the later. The video shows the Modu being inserted into a MacBook Pro and I wonder if it uses a standard

The concept of carrying a small module with basic communications capabilities, holding your personal data so all these other devices can change personality is attractive. Specially since some devices could be shared with other members of your family. On the other side, it could be the dumbest, biggest flop in cellphone history.

In any case, we will be all over them like shareware. If only for the NES clickity-clack sound of getting Modu inside whatever jackets. The price is great too: $200 for the basic module plus two jackets. The company says it plans to introduce other jackets for $20 to $60, which is quite an agressive strategy. If they work well, collecting them may get more popular than picking Pokémons.

Clickity-clank, clickity-clank, my money goes into my piggy bank. The Pig E Bank talking piggy bank is soooo cool for two reasons:

1. It keeps track of how much money is inside so you don’t have to break it open just to find out that you don’t have enough to buy what you want.

2. It talks when you put money into it.

Pig E Bank keeps track of your dough and talks to you!

The Pig E Bank electronic talking piggy bank is a really cool toy. The packaging says 3+. Normally, when we see an age range like that, we sort of scoff. I mean, how many toys have you seen that are marked 5+ and should really be marked: "5-7 (maaaybe on the 7, more like 5-6 max)". Our point is that this is a pretty cool item even for us old(er) folks.

For the kids, it’s great because the Pig E Bank not only keeps track of how much money you’ve saved (via the LCD coin counter), but it also talks to you when you enter money. For youngsters just learning coin values, this is great reinforcement.

For the adults, how many of us come home each day with a little pocket full of change. Dump it in the Pig E Bank and instantly retrieve the balance by hitting the "Bal" key on the LCD coin counter. This way, when you want to order a pizza, you’ll know if you can afford extra large cheese sticks. Hmmmm.

Stores dollars, too

The Pig E Bank electronic piggy bank can also accept dollars (although not through the coin acceptor). Underneath his tail (why the manufacturer put it here is beyond us), simply unscrew the cap and store money (or secrets).
