It can be seen as an upgrade to the MX Revolution, which was probably the “king” of wireless mice, but had been on the market for over a year without any updates. The MX 1100 is a bit larger than an average mouse, but it’s ergonomic and versatile with many features that will not disappoint.

The Specifications:

Connectivity: 2.4 GHz wireless (USB Adapter)

Power: Two AA Batteries

Sensor: 848nm Adjustable-dpi laser

Special: DPI Controls & Stealth Thumb Button

The Buttons: - 5/5 stars
The best part of the MX 1100 is the large amount of buttons it features without becoming overwhelming for those who don’t plan on using anything past the essential ones. The mouse is a bit larger than an average sized mouse, but is quite comfortable to use and both the left & right click buttons provide great tactile feedback. A button below the scroll wheel allows switching between a “notched scroll” and a “frictionless scroll”. The standard “notches” setting lets you feel each bump while scrolling, whereas the “frictionless” setting allows flicking through pages rapidly. The scroll wheel supports 4-way scrolling, so leaning it to either side will allow scrolling in that direction. Pushing in the scroll wheel functions as a middle-click, which is great for opening links in new tabs. A plus and minus button at the top left of the mouse allows increasing or decreasing the DPI settings to adjust sensitivity. It’s quite neat to be able to change the sensitivity at anytime without having to dig through the Control Panel. Directly above the thumb rest are the forward and backward keys. Although well placed, they were a bit too soft to offer enough feedback in my opinion. The final neat feature is the “stealth thumb button”, located in the thumb rest, which has been configured by default to launch Vista’s 3D flip interface to switch between open windows. And as always, installing Logitech’s SetPoint drivers and software will allow customizing any button to do just about anything you would like it to do.

Accuracy and Transmission: - 5/5 stars
Despite being a wireless mouse, the device maintained a strong connection with the transmitter. There were no problems getting it to work from even over 20 feet away. The MX 1100 is also quite accurate, movements are almost flawless and the adjustable DPI doesn’t disappoint. Hard-core gamers will probably still complain about accuracy, but for most consumers this will end up being the most accurate mouse they have used. That doesn’t mean its bad for gaming, it was better than any of the mice I had and was excellent to use while playing a game of Counter-Strike.

Battery and Charging - 3/5
The way the mouse gets it’s juice is probably the only drawback. The Mouse runs of two AA batteries and Logitech claims it will last about nine months. The mouse automatically goes into a power-save mode, however Logitech still says by using the “on/off button, you save even more power.” There is a battery indicator on the mouse that lights up when turned on, but fades away after a couple of seconds. A re-chargeable version of this mouse is available, however it can only be purchased as a part of a Cordless Desktop Wave Pro keyboard-mouse bundle. Unfortunately we can’t test the mouse for nine-months, but from experience I can say that the lifespan could be much shorter or longer based of how many hours it gets used each day.

Conclusion:
Overall, the Logitech MX 1100 is a top-of-the-line mouse and is probably one of the best ones I have used to date. It is extremely comfortable, completely customizable, and just works. If you do happen to be a “lefty” (left-handed), you are out of luck. It would be quite difficult to use this mouse comfortably with a left hand. For a retail price of $79.99, while being available for as low as $65 online, it’s affordable and offers just about everything you could ask for. I only wish it was rechargeable, but despite that most owners will be truly satisfied by what Logitech’s MX 1100 has to offer.

Logitech has not one, not two, but three new keyboards.

The first is the one you see here, the Illuminated Keyboard, which will be on sale in October for about $80. It has to its credit broken the record for being the thinnest at 9.3 millimeters, and has an adjustable backlight, soft-touch palm rest, as well as multimedia keys.

Also available is the DiNovo Keyboard for Notebooks, which will be out in October for $100. This one is portable and wireless with 2.4 GHz.

The other, the Cordless Desktop S520, is available for about $60 in September. It has an amazing 3-year battery life.

Considering Logitech's track record, these keyboards will no doubt sell well.

Every Sunday, Berliners converge upon Prenzlauer Berg's Mauer Park for the city's largest weekly flea market. Shopkeepers set up rickety tables and mottled cardboard boxes filled with any old trash they pick up and think they might be able to sell, while thousands of Berliners drink beer, eat wurst and look out for hidden treasures, the price of which is hotly negotiated, Turk-style, the moment the whiff of a sale hits the air.

Needless to say, Mauer Park is filled with old technology, most of it junk. This is some of it.

A delightful table of gorgeous old Pouva brand analog cameras. They were remarkably light: in today's digicam and DSLR age, it's hard to remember that there was a time when most cameras' only real heft came from the roll of film slotted into them.

Lovely Elisabeth — friend, neighbor, face-melting keytarist non pareil — puzzles over a mystery gadget. Although it had a ridge, it did not open, eliminating my first theory: amorphously heart-shaped waffle iron. With no lights or speakers or displays of any kind, I can only guess that the device vibrates or heats up when plugged in... but for what purpose?

Even German Linux geeks love beer. Some filthy Chaos Congress hacker would probably defile this with Club Mate.

The only way to telephone the West, once upon a time.

The Uher brand of cordless phones was ultimately discontinued after optometrists conclusively linked them to a string of spontaneous retinal fryings in the late 1980s... thankfully the last time the press was forced to report on a rash of irradiated eyeballs spontaneously exploding like microwaved hard-boiled eggs.

After the city was re-united Of the many strange technological advancements East Berliners had to contend with was the strange prospect of color television and sound in three dimensions.

We will never know how many sweaty hours of amateur Scheiße footage has been filmed on these...

... or viewed on this.

Mauer Park's saddest toaster, having conflagrated itself.

The greatest box of toys conclusively proves that the errant apostrophized plural is one of the true constants of international illiteracy.

Are you suffering from sore and stiff muscles after a particularly hard day of physical labor? Well, if your wife isn’t that much of a masseuse, why not settle for this Cordless Heat Therapy Shoulder Wrap instead?

This cordless, heated shoulder wrap provides up to six hours of deep-penetrating heat therapy to relieve sore, stiff muscles and joints without requiring proximity to an AC outlet. Unlike other wraps that quickly lose their heat, this one is powered by a slim, long-lasting lithium-ion rechargeable battery that ensures consistent heat therapy. The flexible, thin wrap can be worn under clothing, and it conforms to the body without inhibiting movement; the Velcro® fasteners ensure it remains in place. Virtually undetectable carbon fiber heating elements adjust from 108° F to 130° F at the touch of a button on the battery pack. Lasts up to 2 1/2 hours on the highest setting. Recharges via AC in four hours.

Logitech just announced a trio of keyboards this morning starting with its thinnest keyboard ever, the 9.3-mm thin Illuminated Keyboard ($80 / October) pictured above. It features an adjustable backlight, soft-touch palm rest and dedicated multi-media keys for hot, one-handed night typing alone in the dark. Also announced is the portable, 2.4GHz wireless DiNovo Keyboard for Notebooks ($100 / October) with an unbelievable 3-year battery life followup by the Cordless Desktop S520 ($60 / September) keyboard and optical mouse combination. The latter features more of that same impressive power management capable of eking out 8 months of usage for the mouse and 15-months for the keyboard.
The Philips VOIP841 is the first completely independent DECT cordless phone that lets you make Skype calls without a PC. And with the added flexibility of letting you connect your land line, this phone can take care of all your calling needs. The Philips VOIP841 is a self-contained unit that requires no installation of software or connection to a computer; simply plug the base into any power outlet in your house, connect it to your broadband connection, and you can start making free Skype telephone calls right away. (To make Skype calls, you must open a Skype account. A Skype account is not included with this phone.)
And by simply plugging your home telephone line into the VOIP841, this phone can double as your everyday landline, giving you the ultimate in convenience.

Technical Details

* Stand-alone cordless phone lets you make Skype phone calls without a computer
* Can also be used as a traditional phone with a landline for extra convenience
* Full-color display and 4-way directional pad makes navigation simple
* Handset can store up to 500 Skype phonebook entries
* Phone has up to 12 hours of talk time and 120 hours of standby on single charge

Customer feedback:

1. If you hate paying the phone company a ton of money for calls you probably aren't going to make, Skype is a great service. You can make unlimited phone calls within the U.S. and Canada for just under $30. Out of country calls are extremely cheap. For example, I can call the U.K. for a bit over 2 cents per minute. So having a telephone you can count on to make reasonably good calls is critical. The Philips VOIP841 is not a perfect solution. The sound quality is somewhere between a cell phone and a land line. It's a bit better than the former and not nearly as good as the latter.
But for making and receiving calls from family and friends, it's great. And it will pay for itself quickly and save you a ton of money on your phone bill. I even use mine for business calls overseas and many times within the U.S. With Skype, you can make conference calls. So business users will find this of interest. Although the phone allows you to make Skype or land line calls, the land line is no better or worse than the Skype line. In fact, I believe the Skype calls may be somewhat better on this phone.

2. When I first got this phone, I had both a land line and Skype. I have since dropped the land line because I'm more than happy with the Skype service, especially due to how much $$ it's saving me (a ton, by the way). As Skype will tell you, they recommend you keep a land line, because Skype does not work with 911. I have a cell phone which works with 911, so I'm less worried about that and I live in a condo with lots of people around me. If 911 service is of a concern, then you might want to keep the land line. When you place a call the phone will ask you if you want it to go through the land line or Skype. FYI, someone wrote that they were still asked that even though they didn't have a land line, but I was able to change the settings and now the phone always uses Skype.

The Linksys CIT400 Dual-Mode Cordless Phone with Skype is part of the iPhone family of products that use the Internet to enhance the way you communicate. The CIT400 is a full-featured cordless phone that provides an easy way to take advantage of Skype Internet calling as well as place calls over your normal phone line (PSTN) from a single device. No PC required! Just sign into your Skype account from the handset, and your contacts and their availability are displayed on your color screen. Advanced DECT cordless technology won’t interfere with 802.11 wireless networks. Dual-Mode capability lets you choose whether to make calls over a standard telephone line or with Skype. Just select who you want to talk to from your contact list on your handset and get ready to talk.
The Linksys CIT400 also allows you to choose to make calls to other Skype users or over your existing standard telephone line. You'll get the convenience of a cordless phone and all its features, plus the high-quality voice reception integrated right into your Skype handset--no computer is required.

# Model: CIT400
# Handset frequency bands: 1920-1930 MHz
# Standards: DECT (Digital Enhanced Cordless Telecommunication Standard)
# Speech coding: 32Kbps ADPCM
# Distance range: 300 meters outdoor, 50 meters indoor
# Number of channels: 5 channels
# Standby/talktime: 120 hours/6 hours
# Display: 4K color LCD with 128 x 128 pixels
# Power: 2 x AA 750mAh NiMH rechargeable batteries
# Base station ports: Ethernet 10/100 (RJ45), Line (RJ11)

Customer feedback:

1. I always wanted to have the stand alone Skype phone, and the reason I waited and did not jump on the "mobile-like ones" was the battery factor and the issues aabout logging on other networks when you were away from home...
Now this one is just THE ONE !! plain and simple..
Installation could not be more simple. Take out of the box, plug at your cable modem (or a router like I do) and plug the power. Turn the phone on, input your skype account and password (or create a new one) and that is IT !
Ready to go...
It is quite light, has a plastic feel, but nothing that would take any credit out of it ! It is in fact quite "modern looking" phone. Better in my opinion to be a bulkier cordless phone like the ones everyone is used to nowadays. Sound got better (as if it have anything to improve from the CIT 200) in reality.. It is just like a regular phone !! All the time...

2. We've been using it for about a week and so far it's really good. The best part is that with skype built in, it just plugs into my wireless router and I don't have to have the computer on all the time. We keep the handset on it's charger most of the time so I can't comment on battery life. The sound is great; so far no complaints from us or from anyone we're talking to (I've had a few people say it sounds better than when I call on my cell phone!). The user interface is simple and the phone looks nice too. You can add people to your contact list on the phone and it will update your skype contact list online as well, and vice-versa, if you update your contact list on your computer the handset will update too (I think it updates at night, but was able to have it update when I wanted by logging the handset off and back on. I have a skype-in phone number which came with voicemail and that works seamlessly with the phone. You can easily change your coicemail greeting on the phone. When someone calls and leaves a message a red light blinks on the top of the phone notifying you and checking messages is a cinch too.
