No, this isn’t a joke, it’s true! A British mobile satellite, approximately the size of a double-decker bus, is due to be launched in Kazakhstan. This launch completes Inmarsat’s £722mn programme to increase broadband coverage across the world.

The six tonne satellite has already been lifted into launch position at the Baikonur Cosmodrome. The take-off was previously delayed because of a fault discovered during testing.

An Inmarsat spokesman said: “The Proton M will carry the Inmarsat-4 F3 into geostationary orbit at 22,240 miles.

“Once tested and operational, it will provide satellite phone and mobile broadband services to North and South America at 98 degrees west.

“And together with its two sister satellites, already in orbit, the completed constellation will deliver full and seamless global coverage for our entire range of broadband mobile satellite services.”

This is some crazy stuff, but imagine soon the world will be carpeted in various forms of wireless broadband - I don’t know what I would do if I couldn’t update my Facebook profile whilst on the move, and now I can rely on satellite as another channel to do so!

Once in a while, you’ll find a product that is good for kids, adults, and the environment. The Tamiya Electric Car is one of them.

The Electric Car requires no batteries, but is powered by the wind. The Tamiya Loopwing Wind Power Generator Set comes with a miniature windmill whose blades are able to turn with even the lightest of winds. This spinning powers a tiny turbine, and you can use that to charge the electric car.

If the car is connected to windmill charger for 5-10 minutes, then the car is good for about 1-2 minutes of playing. That may not seem like much to you, but I think we all have electric tools that charge for a long time and work for a short amount of time. I have a Black and Decker electric screwdriver that works for about 5 minutes after one hour’s worth of charging.

Parents will definitely save on batteries with this toy. Not only that, it teaches kids to “reduce, reuse, and recycle”. No wonder why it is billed as an educational toy. I’m not certain if I agree with its age recommendation aimed at those 15 years of age or older, because I think it is the younger ones who need to learn to save energy and stop using toys that just burn up batteries.

The Tamiya Loopwing Wind Power Generator Set is available at the Tamiya America site for about $67.

Almost as big as a double decker bus and with an unfurled solar wingspan as wide as a football field, it needed an appropriately big ride into space. And so it hitched onto a Proton Rocket, a 58m-high, 700-ton monster used for sat positioning since 1996, but before that, used in the 1960's to visit planets for scientific research and deliver parts of the International Space Station and Mir Space Station. The flight was perfect. It’s a situation we find ourselves in all too often. If only I had a cordless chainsaw on a long stick.

In fact, who needs ladders at all when you have a chainsaw on stick? The Black & Decker 18-Volt Cordless Electric Pole Chain Saw can reach up to 14 feet and cuts branches six inches in diameter. It weighs in at 7.6 pounds. Does this mean that all of the chainsaw wielding maniac movies will have to be redone. I mean now they can kill from a distance. You can get one for $120.

When it’s the time of year to trim up your home’s landscape, it’s also time to whip out your ladder, because you’re about to be reaching for some pretty high branches. But setting up the old ladder and climbing up a tree is not exactly the safest or most convenient way of spending a sunny afternoon.

Black & Decker offers this practical Cordless Electric Pole Chainsaw which has an impressive reach of 14 feet. This 18-volt chainsaw can reach some of the highest branches of a moderately sized tree, which is perfect for pruning and landscaping your prized pine.

Weighing only 7.6 lbs, the Cordless Electric Pole Chainsaw won’t weigh you down too much when your hoisting it into the greenery. The saw itself is thin enough that it can fit comfortably between close branches, insuring your snip the right one.

If you’re looking for a more convenient way to prune your trees the Black & Decker Cordless Electric Pole Chainsaw seems to be an easier way of doing so compared to the old ladder climbing trick. You can pick up your own from Amazon for $120.

Well, if you want to bring back a little bit of nostalgia in your life, then the A Team R/C Van could do just the trick.

Fully-licensed by the A-Team this fully-functioning, ready-to-run van will take you back to those Saturday evenings spent watching the adventures of the world’s most famous fugitives for hire. Get to grips with the twin toggle transmitter and you’ll soon be whizzing around shouting ‘I pity the fool!’ as you attempt to outrun the imaginary forces of Colonel Decker. You can even hum that rousing theme tune as you rescue various saddos from small time crooks. We love it when a van comes together!

You will be able to pick up the A Team R/C Van for £29.95 a pop.
