Measures 228 x 135 x 25mm and weighs 830 grams (incl. battery), Viliv S7 is one of the many UMPCs displayed during IFA 2008 in Germany. It’s obvious since compact laptop / mini notebook is this year’s current trend, thanks to Asus’ Eee PC. Regarding S7, powered by an Intel Atom Centrino SLT processor (1.3Ghz/1.6Ghz/1.86Ghz), it sports a 7-inch touchscreen WSVGA display, a 30GB/60GB of hard drive, and a handy integrated SiRF Star III GPS receiver for built-in satnav capabilities. Like many UMPCs outthere, this one also has a a wide-range of mobile connectivity options, including Bluetooth 2.0+EDR, WiBro, HSDPA, and 802.11b/g WiFI.

Other features include a QWERTY keyboard, a built-in DMB TV tuner, H.264 1080i/720p support, and up to 8 hours of battery life with over 9 hours of continous movie playback. As for the operating system, users can choose between Windows XP Home or Windows Vista.

Viliv S7 UMPC is scheduled to hit the store in the first quarter of 2009.

Here’s the first pic of a blue Zune flash player. This one is an 8GB version that was seen posted on Fry’s a little while ago. Despite the color, it doesn’t have a lot to be blue about. Apparently there’s a silver one as well, but no pics of that one. It sports some interesting new features.

Users can access wireless hotspots to update music collections, browse the Zune Marketplace, refresh Channels, exchange favorites, and even buy tagged FM songs. “Channels” are custom stations that will give you personalized playlists. It also has a “Games” feature for what else, games. The “Buy From FM” feature lets you listen to FM radio and tag any songs for purchase when you sync with a PC. Not too shabby.

It would serve as your phone, still-camera, video recorder, PDA, and music player all in one sleek little package. To lock it or to use it, you’ll need to twist the movable base. It features a 5 MP camera and has dual mode. You can use both the keypad or a stylus for input. It also gives you WiFi and music/video broadcasting capabilities as well as handwriting recognition. If it ever sees the light of day, it would be a runaway hit. We are all looking for that magic all-in-one device to lighten our load. But as cool as it is we don’t expect to see it for quite a while.

Amazon is selling these really handy backtrack GPS navigation systems for only $60. This is a new product from Bushnell, a company that’s been involved in outdoor tools for many years. We think that’s a great price for a handy gadget that could literally save your life on your next outdoor trip if you do get lost.

They are advertising this simple GPS navigation system more for everyday use such as at the mall and stadium parking lots, at the festival, etc… but think how useful this could be for hiking, camping, kayaking, and mostly skiing.

Here are features from their site:

Store and locate up to three locations

Utilizes the latest digital technology

High sensitivity SiRF Star III GPS reciever

Self calibrating digital compass

Weather resistant

Operates on 2 AAA Batteries (Not Included)

Compact size stores easily in your pocket or purse

Lanyard included for easy attachment

The only problem we see is that you can only store 3 locations! That sometimes may not be enough but at this price you can buy two of these and have 6 locations stored :) We’ll be sure to get in touch with them and see if they are talking about 3 destinations with multiple waypoints or just 3 waypoints.

T-Mobile is getting ready to launch another Samsung for. At least according to the FCC, the handset is coming from T-Mobile.

The T919 will have GSM/EDGE/850/1850/1900, 1700MHz WCDMA. There's a rumor about HSDPA, an MP3 player, A-GPS and a full Internet browser with touch support. The FCC hasn't confirmed all these last features but they are written down.

Like always neither company has confirmed the handset so we don't have any news about availability and pricing.

Look, we know how hard it is to hold in a secret, so we can sympathize entirely with Fry's on this. While new Zunes and / or features are looking more and more likely for September 9th, said e-tailer has already let slip a few new crucial details about the forthcoming (er, already out) 120GB Zune. For instance, we're looking at a Buy from FM option that enables users to tag sweet jams on the radio for easy purchasing when they arrive back at their PC. Furthermore, we're seeing Device to Cloud, Channels and Games options, all of which are further explained in the links below. In related news, a shockingly blue 8GB flash Zune has also emerged on the very same website (as predicted). Which is awesome if you're really into blue.

Read - 8GB blue Zune, via zunerama
Read - New Zune details, part I
Read - New Zune details, part II

Permalink | Email this | Comments
