Back in June, we saw E-Ten announcing four cool smartphones. After almost six months, the handset maker said it will soon release two of the four devices - Glofiish X610 and Glofiish V900.

The first one, X610, is a 2.5G smartphone running Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional edition. Designed for the emerging marketing, the device doesn’t exactly boasts high-end specs. Still, there’s a 2.8-inch QVGA touchscreen, 128 MB Flash ROM and 64 MB SDRAM, quad-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE radio, Bluetooth 2.0+EDR, WiFi, FM radio, 2 megapixel camera and a GPS. Samsung’s SC3 2442 CPU at 400 MHz is providing all the processing power needed.

On the other hand, the Glofiish V900 is a mobile TV ready device. Aside from the DVB-T receiver, the stylish, 3G-enabled (triband UMTS/HSDPA) smartphone packs a 2.8-inch VGA touchscreen, Bluetooth 2.0+EDR, WiFi, FM radio, 3 megapixel camera that can record videos at VGA resolution and a GPS. This time, Samsung’s more powerful CPU at at 533 MHz is in charge.

Pricing is not known at this stage, and the same goes for the exact release date. Stay tuned…

RCRWireless has compiled a list of the Top Ten US Wireless Carriers for 2Q 2008. There’s no big surprise here, with AT&T still leading Verizon as the top two US wireless carriers. But, the data is still interesting to look at.

We see that AT&T is still No. 1 in the rankings, but only just. Verizon added 200,000 more wireless subscribers in Q2 2008 than did AT&T. And, Verizon’s recent acquisition of Rural Cellular wasn’t factored in to Verizon’s customer-base because the deal was finalized after the close of Q2 2008. Of course, once Alltel is wholly absorbed into Verizon, we will see AT&T dropping down to the No. 2 spot as AT&T takes the lead.

Sprint saw its customer churn slowing in Q2 2008, with just 900,000 customers jumping ship, compared to the previous quarter’s loss of 1 million customers.

And, T-Mobile saw its customer churn jump from 2.6% to 2.7%, which they attribute to the expiration of the recently-introduced 2-year contracts.

E-Ten has released its Glofiish X610 budget smartphone model for the Russian market, but if you're looking for 3G connectivity across the vast Siberian plains, you can forget about this handset. What you'll get with the X610 are :-

Samsung SC3 400MHz processor

128MB ROM

GSM/GPRS/EDGE networks supported

QVGA touch screen display

SiRF Star III GPS chipset

2 megapixel camera

Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 2.0 connectivity

I'm not too sure I'd pay $650 for this (after conversion) considering it doesn't have 3G...
