Yes, Zedomax.com has been up and down and running for last couple months on a quad-cpu server that’s simply not capable.

But today I did get to goto my girlfriend’s parents house and hook them up with an portable AC conditioner. I will not get into details but that’s been taking most of my time and I had no access to my computer. (blogger excuse…ahem…)

Anyways, I will be back tomorrow morning to continue where I left off, tracks to covering all the neat gadgets with a twist of cool personality, that’s what I am striving for.

And make sure to check out our new Google Chrome Browser Tips and Hacks Blog, to cover the latest hacks on how to do anything with Chromey…

Spore hit the Apple Keynote stage all those months ago to show iPhone 3G hopefuls what kind of gaming experience to expect on the iPhone 3G and iPhones running the iPhone 2.0 OS. Spore Origins, alongside Sega’s Super Monkey Ball, promised to usher the iPhone and iPhone 3G into the world of mobile gaming.

Unfortunately, the initial release of the Spore Origins game was only compatible with the iPod. More unfortunate is the fact that Spore Origins doesn’t offer character transfer or online play. Spore Origins will essentially spin-off of the Spore game title, offering little more amusement than guiding your Spore creature through a primordial soup filled with smaller-than-you food creatures and larger-than-you predators. The goal will be to feed on smaller creatures while running away from larger predators.

Spore Origins is expected to launch on the AppStore later this week for $5. Were the game more integrated in to the Spore parent-game, Spore Origins would have a larger potential audience. As it stands, we’ll have to wait and see how the game fares against the competition.

Leave it to Google to take on industry incumbents with the goal of completely redefining the user experience. Google’s latest project, Chrome, is a web browser based on Apple’s open-source rendering engine Webkit. As a new web browser designed from the ground up to put the user experience in line with advanced features, Google’s Chrome is set to light up the web browser-stage.

But, let’s not forget Google’s other major project, the Android mobile OS. It stands to reason that Google would inject their Google Chrome genes in to the Android platform in the form of a Chrome-based mobile web browser. According to Sergey Brin, “Probably a subsequent version of Android is going to pick up a lot of the Chrome stack… My guess is we’ll have ‘Chrome-like’ or something similar.”

The eventual integration of Google Chrome into Google Android could set the stage for truly portable, cross-platform applications. Applications developed using Google’s App Engine could be ported to both the desktop and mobile versions of Google Chrome out-of-the-box. Rather than spend time and money to port software to the mobile side of life, developers will likely be able to code once and see their applications running smoothly on the both desktop and mobile fronts. Now that’s cool.

The Godson-3 is a third generation, quad-core design -- the project was started in 2001 -- and the goal is to use it to bring PCs to most Chinese citizens by 2010. Importantly, the 65nm Godson-3 will be x86 compatible through simulation, which means it'll be be able to run Windows about 80 percent as fast as a comparable Intel chip -- although other Godson chips are already on the Chinese market in Linux-powered desktops and laptops under the name Loongson, or "dragon chip," they've been hampered by incompatibility with x86 software, so this should open things up significantly.

Last year, Epson brought the price of 1080p projectors down to $2,700 and today it's dropping it again, to $2,000 (officially $1,999) for the all-new Powerlite Home Cinema 6100. We're not saying it's going to be as high-performance as Sony's or Panasonic's new $3,500 projectors, but damn if that's not the right price to build yourself a "budget" home theater. Epson is also launching its Pro Cinema 7100 and 7500 UB 1080p projectors with some seriously high contrast ratios, but they'll come at a much higher—and as yet unspecified—price. More info below.

Epson America Unveils Industry's First 1080p Resolution Front Projector to Break $2,000 Price Mark

Epson Builds Upon Leadership Position as Number-One Selling Projector Brand Worldwide With New High-Performance, High-Value 1080p PowerLite Home Cinema 6100

DENVER, Colo. – Sept. 4, 2008 – Continuing its long-established leadership role as the number one selling projector brand worldwidei, Epson today announced the introduction of its latest 3LCD 1080p front projector, the high-performance, and high-value PowerLite Home Cinema 6100. Redefining the price-to-performance equation, the Home Cinema 6100 provides full 1920 x 1080 progressive high definition resolution at an amazing $1,999 price point, bringing the big-screen high definition home theater experience to an even wider range of consumers.

“Our goal is to drive the growth of the home theater market in a wide range of customer segments, bring incredible big-screen experiences to first-time home entertainment consumers and to the most discerning AV elitists,” said Rajeev Mishra, director, Projector Marketing and Development, Epson America. “The Home Cinema 6100 is especially ideal for home theater enthusiasts, delivering the optimal balance of quality, performance, ease-of-use, and flexibility at an outstanding value.”

At the heart of the Home Cinema 6100’s optical imaging engine is Epson’s latest-generation D7 high definition resolution LCD technology. Unlike projectors which use a spinning color wheel with a white segment, 3LCD technology delivers realistic, vibrant colors without the possibility of color break-up. This latest technology also provides substantially improved contrast, reaching an incredible 18,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio (a 50 percent improvement over earlier models) to deliver brighter and more accurate whites and darker blacks.

Another contributing factor to the Home Cinema 6100’s increased contrast is its exclusive Dynamic Iris system, which allows light to be controlled precisely on a frame-by-frame basis. This feature is especially ideal for projecting fast-action movies that involve quick changing scenes. This is largely due to the Dynamic Iris system’s ability to make automatic light output adjustments up to 120 times per second. The projector also features Epson’s exclusive Cinema Filter that delivers a larger color space for improved color accuracy and a more film-like image. Epson has also collaborated with Fujinon – the leading provider of precision optics to the digital film and HDTV camera industry - to develop this projector’s unique OptiCinema™ multi-lens system. This feature projects clean, precise edges with consistent image quality across the entire screen. It also gives users more options and flexibility in terms of where they wish to install the projector.

The Home Cinema 6100’s light source uses a newly-updated E-TORL® (Epson Twin Optics Reflection Lamp), an exclusive Epson design. Unlike off-the-shelf lamps, the ultra high efficiency E-TORL design provides optimum light uniformity and is rated at 200 watts (compared to 170 watts with earlier models). This enables the projector to deliver an incredible 1,800 lumens of white and color light output. It also allows the projector to be used with larger screen sizes (greater than ten feet diagonal), while still providing a bright, impressive picture.

A significantly improved airflow system in the Home Cinema 6100 contributes to more efficient use of power, reduced cool-down periods and lower fan speeds that result in quieter operation (only 22 db) than earlier models. The airflow system also takes advantage of an advanced air filtration system that achieves up to 98 percent efficiency which contributes to longer filter life.

The Home Cinema 6100 features numerous high definition inputs, including a high definition component video input as well as two HDMI version 1.3a digital inputs. An S-video input and a composite video input are also provided, along with a VGA-type RGB input (D-sub 15) to accept a wide variety of computer resolutions including high definition, bringing the number of HD-compatible inputs to four.

Stylishly designed, the Home Cinema 6100 features a white casing with silver accents and a reversible Epson logo on the front panel that can be reoriented for tabletop, shelf and ceiling mounting. An integrated cable hook ensures that connections always remain solid and secure, while an optional rear panel cable cover fully encloses the input panel to hide wiring.

Availability and Support
The Epson Home Cinema 6100 will be available in November through authorized Epson projector dealers and select retail outlets for an estimated street price of $1,999. The projector also comes with the service and support only Epson can offer, including a two-year limited warranty with toll-free access to PrivateLineSM, Epson’s priority technical support, and free overnight exchange with ExtraCareSM Home Service.

About 3LCD Technology
3LCD is the world's leading projection technology, delivering unbelievably bright and natural color, amazing detail and road-tested reliability. Using an advanced, 3-chip optical engine, 3LCD offers full-time color for brilliant quality images without the possibility of color break-up. 3LCD is based on LCD technology, which is used by leading manufacturers worldwide for the ultimate viewing experience in flat panel TVs and projectors. Additionally, Epson’s new 12-bit 3LCD driver technology provides a dramatically increased color gamut over 10-bit drivers, which translates into 68.72 billion available colors. Typically found only on high-end high definition broadcast monitors, the Pro Cinema 7500 UB also features Color Space selection, which allows a user to select between the three industry color space standards – SMPTE-C for standard definition (Rec.601), HD (Rec. 709) for high definition, and EBU to match the European PAL video standard.

The Pro Cinema 7500 UB offers the ultimate widescreen high definition experience with anamorphic lens compatibility and “vertical stretch” picture mode. With an optional external anamorphic lens (available from Epson) , the viewer can use the Pro Cinema 7500 UB with a cinematic-sized front projection widescreen for true 2.35:1 and 2.40:1 ultra widescreen viewing, eliminating the black bars above and below the picture for a full theatrical image.

Full-Featured Epson Pro Cinema 7100
Featuring a stylish black and silver design, the new PowerLite Pro Cinema 7100 is a high-performing projector featuring native 1080p resolution, higher brightness of up to 1,800 lumens and superb contrast of up to 18,000:1. Peek Inc. is a Californian Corporation that raised 15 million from L Capital Partners and RRE Ventures LLC in December 2007 after marketing successfully Genesis, a proprietary video streaming platform with top-notch technology. However this time the company is focusing on the mobile market in the knowledge that many consumers do not need a full featured device, often costly, just to check their email messages. During the announcement of Peek handheld, Amol Sarva, CEO of Peek Corporation said, “We removed unnecessary costs from the device that people weren’t willing to pay for.”

This philosophy will surely be greatly appreciated by housewives needing to stay in touch via email with husband and children, students, sales agents, and many others that do not require the sophistication of a full packed Office suite or other virtual gizmos available in Smartphones, Pocket PCs, PDAs and Ultra Portable Notebooks. Peek Inc. is planning the nationwide release via of the Peek handheld device by September 15 via Target Corp. at a retail price of $100.

Along with the handheld, Peek will also provide a mobile email service through the Peek Network, which goal is offer unlimited access to Webmail, POP3 and IMAP account for only $20 USD a month. Peek’s mobile infrastructure is provided by T-Mobile USA Inc., guaranteeing coast to coast wireless coverage.

Another great advantage of Peek’s gadget is will not be any limitation accesing major Webmail services, including but not limited to Google’s Gmail, Microsoft’s Webmail services (Hotmail, Live and MSN) or any others, as occurred with some providers in the early stage of the push email service.

When it comes to the mobile market, Peek is betting to provide a specific solution for target people. This is much likely the concept behind a series of gadgets with similar goal such as Kindle, an e-reader launched by Amazon past year that provides digital books download connecting with the Sprint Nextel cellular network.

Some critics have pointed their fing toward IXI Mobile Inc., a company that previously tried to break into the mobile mainstream with Ogo, another email reader gizmo that also provided text and instant messaging capabilities via AT&T network in 2004. Ogo’s lack of success forced IXI Mobile to discontinuing the service one year later.

Nonetheless. Peek has an optimistic vision in the knowledge that the mobile market has mature and push email is now a real need to keep communications among enterprises clients and regular subscribers. Peek handheld, opposite to Ogo, will born in the right moment when demand for this type of gadgets is granted and will not be attached to long-term contracts or need to subscribe to additional services to unlash its capabilities.

As part of the financing deal, DFJ will become part of Fonality's board. Dan said, "We're growing at a pretty good clip. Growth takes cash.

Some 1080p projectors are getting down below the $2,000 mark, but the real news is that insanely good projectors are appearing in the $3,000 range. On the heels of Sony's VPL-HW10 comes Panasonic's AE3000, which has 60,000:1 contrast ratio using LCD projection technology. The $3,500 system handles motion blur withsomething like the 120Hz seen in LCD flat panels: 120 frames per sec for 60Hz content; 96 frames per second for 24P content. It's smart on power consumption, reducing the drain on the lamp according to the scene's requirements. With full high-definition 1080p (1,920 x 1,080 pixel) native resolution, the PT-AE3000 gives home theater enthusiasts a higher level of picture quality entertainment, producing crisp and clear images through new state-of-the-art projection technology.

As an evolution of its award winning predecessor the PT-AE2000, the PT-AE3000 delivers a captivating 1,600 lumen brightness and powerful 60,000:1 contrast ratio. To achieve sharp and detailed reproduction of fast moving motion images, Panasonic has developed and equipped the PT-AE3000 with new Frame Creation Technology optimized for large screen viewing. And for easy adjustment to different widescreen movie formats like 21:9 or 16:9, the projector is also upgraded with a Lens Memory Load feature which is capable of memorizing and restoring zoom/focus positions for multiple aspect ratio flexibility.

Higher Picture Quality with Brightness Upgrade
The dramatic increase in the contrast-ratio and dynamic range was made possible by the newly engineered Pure Contrast Plate technology that effectively blocks unwanted light from the path of projection. In addition, the polarization filter system surrounding the Pure Contrast Plates has been redesigned to achieve the PT-AE3000’s higher level of brightness.

Together with a host of carefully engineered Panasonic technologies including the high precision optical lens unit, Dynamic Iris and Smooth Screen technology, the PT-AE3000 truly distinguishes itself against its competition and as a projector solution that home theater enthusiasts will thoroughly enjoy.

“Each year with advances in our AE Home Theater series, we continue to strive for the best ‘real theater’ environment for our customers,” said Rena Yotsu, home theater specialist, Panasonic Projector Systems Company. “To reach this goal, Panasonic Projector Systems Company engineers have designed many innovative technologies and have collaborated side-by-side with Hollywood colorists and image experts to manufacture our outstanding, upgraded PT-AE3000 home theater projector.”

Crisp and Clear Details for In-Motion Images
The PT-AE3000 now incorporates a Frame Creation technology that interpolates an additional frame by analyzing the characteristics of two adjacent frames, creating sharp and clear images of fast moving scenes in sports and action movies, especially for large screen viewing. For crisp motion images with high resolution, users may set their frame count preference to 120 frames/1 sec from 60 frames/1 sec for 60Hz video signal input, while 24frames/sec (24p) signals are quadrupled to 96frames/1sec by interpolating three additional frames to allow natural frame-to-frame transitions.

The new and advanced Detail Clarity Processor V2.0 allows the projectors’ digital processing engine to extract information of the low, mid, high, and even the super-high frequency components. The ability to apply these different degrees of sharpness permits the PT-AE3000 to reproduce natural, lifelike images with exceptional clarity and three-dimensionality to the smallest details.

The PT-AE3000 comes equipped with professional-level features that let users personalize the images they see on the screen. First, the projector’s Split Adjust mode allows users to split the screen into two halves; one to make picture adjustments and one to see those adjustments as a baseline reference. Second, the PT-AE3000’s waveform monitor—seen mostly on professional video and film equipment—measures the level of brightness output from a given video signal source. This feature also automatically verifies that the source device is outputting at full dynamic range, and quickly makes adjustments to optimize it for the home theater setting. Users can easily see a graphical representation of any changes made to the unit’s color settings.

Ease of Set-up and Use
Many movies come in aspects that are even wider than the projector’s 16:9 aspect ratio to match the image size 21:9 seen at movie theaters. More and more projector customers are using the 21:9 wide screens to mirror the movie theater experience. The PT-AE3000 enables users to pre-set three different zoom/focus positions and enables easy recall of those positions with the Lens Memory Load function.

Initial set-up and installation are quick and simple, as the 2.0x zoom can cast a 120-inch diagonal image from as short as 3.6 meters (about 11 feet) to 7 meters (24 feet) from the screen. The projector’s lens shift capability enables 100 percent vertical adjustment and 40 percent horizontal adjustment so that viewers can suspend the projector either close to the ceiling or on wall mounts. The lens-centered design and maintenance features such as the replaceable side filter and top lamp, make the projector easy to install and maintain.

The projector is also equipped with an abundant selection of connections; including three HDMI 1.3 inputs and two component input terminals. The three HDMI 1.3 inputs are all Deep Color and x.v.Color compliant. The Deep Color supports 10 bit (over 1.07 billion) and 12 bit (over 68.7 billion) color depths for smooth tonal transitions and subtle gradations between colors, while the x.v.Color compliance realizes accurate reproduction of actual, true-to-life images.

Eco-Friendly Intelligence
In addition to its outstanding features, the new PT-AE3000 is also an ecologically conscious product. The intelligent power management system within the projector reduces the lamp power to the exact required level of brightness depending on what content is displayed. Other than in scenes where full brightness is required, the lamp intelligently determines the necessary power output by analyzing more than 3 billion different image patterns. This advanced analysis process reduces the main power consumption by as much as 10 percent when the dynamic iris function is in operation, thus saving energy.

Other ecological considerations include an off-timer that reduces wasteful power consumption, as well as an extremely low standby power consumption of 0.08 W , which is the lowest in its class.

The Panasonic PT-AE3000 LCD home theater projector will be made in Japan, available starting in October 2008 to authorized presentation systems dealers with an MSRP of $3,499.
