Softbank Mobile has recently scored its first major corporate customer for the iPhone in Japan. It’s a management and technology consultancy firm called BearingPoint.

BearingPoint’s idea is to help its consultants improve the productivity and enable them to get information more easily. For that purpose, the company has ordered “at least 1,000 units” of the iPhone from SoftBank.

It’s an important win for both Apple and SoftBank, though we’re still not hearing that impressive iNumbers from the “Land of the rising Sun…”

Just looking at pictures of the Miniatur Wunderland — a $10 million, 9,600-square-foot train set in Hamburg, Germany — you may mistake it for a living, breathing place. Several places, in fact, including its native Hamburg, and America (complete with an Area 51), Scandinavia and Austria — all painstakingly recreated down to the major landmarks, working traffic and ships and, of course, trains. Soon there will even be an airport. It's all part of an expansion planned for 2014, that will see Miniatur Wunderland add 36,000 feet of track to the almost 30,000 feet already in place, as well as doubling the set's $10 million price tag.

I could go on forever. The Miniatur Wunderland has a pretty darn impressive list of numbers, from track length to the number of traffic signals — <a href=http://www.miniatur-wunderland.com/exhibit/wunderland/wunderland-facts/">see the list for yourself.

Check out the gallery below to get your tour of started (especially that last picture — Miniatur Wunderland has a control room that rivals NORAD).

30 year-old Philadelphia guy Vin Marshall and nine of his friends built this 2,000-pound replica tank from junkyard parts, complete with a functioning pneumatic cannon that fires hot dogs. Believe it or not it moves using pedal power. It has enough room to fit hardware for six peddlers and yield about 1.5 horsepower.

Problem is that’s not enough to move tank treads, so they decided to use wheels instead. Then they gave it bicycle-like gearing to get more power from less exertion. When parade day arrived it all worked out and they were able to move along at 15 mph with a full load. It cost about $3000 to build. Why pink? I have no idea. Maybe because it fits the whole hot dog theme. I didn’t see any specs on how many dogs per minute it fires, but just the fact that it does it is impressive. Check out a video below.

The device in question is the N70-B projector phone which, on first glance, doesn’t look anything fancy at all.

But China Mobile’s N70-B actually has built-in projector that could show images between 34 to 64 inches in size. It’s a GSM 900/1800MHz phone with a 2.4-inch touch screen display, a microSD card slot, and a pitiful 0.3 MP camera. Using its built-in projector, your video clips would be projected within a one to two meter range and with 640 x 480 pixels resolution which isn’t impressive but isn’t so bad if you REALLY want a projector phone to play with.
Here is an example of how passion is able to bring out impressive results - 30 year-old Vin Marshall from Philadelphia, along with 9 other buddies of his have come together to construct this 2,000 pound replica tank straight from junkyard parts. The turret looks menacing despite the pink exterior (definitely unsuitable for combat situations of any kind), and actually works as it is a functioning pneumatic cannon that shoots out hot dogs. Our ozone layer is also better off with this Pink Panzer as it relies on pedal power to move around, where half a dozen peddlers will be able to generate approximately 1.5 horsepower. The total cost? $3,000. I wonder how much they're going to sell this for.

We got a chance recently to check out a robot of the cute and cuddly variety, as opposed to the kind that will take your face off. The sickeningly cuddly and cute WowWee Alive Panda Cub. While it doesn’t go so far as to chew bamboo in your livingroom and call itself Ling-Ling, it’s an impressive huggable robot for the kid or the grown up in your life. The final verdict? Kids love it because of it’s interactivity and realism. Hit the link and head over to our robot site for the full review.
