Mobile coupons are set for boom and Cellfire (which we've already covered in the past) is at the forefront of the growing market. The mobile coupon and discount offer service recently introduced Cellfire 3.0, which is now even more powerful than ever.

For consumers, Cellfire 3.0's new features include:

Clip 2 Mobile Offer Discovery and Capture - allows users to discover mobile coupons featured by Cellfire advertisers within both interactive and traditional media. As they do, they can "clip" the mobile coupon with a simple command and the selected offer is automatically saved in the user's Cellfire Saved Offers page, where the offer can be easily accessed and redeemed in the future.

Rich User Experience - filtering offers by category for easier finding of an appropriate deal.

Seamless web-phone integration - you can browse, sort, and select Cellfire offers both online and using your mobile phone. Any changes made are simultaneously reflected across both platforms.

As for the advertisers, the new Cellfire version brings:

Mobilize Traditional and Interactive Media - allows merging of both traditional and interactive media to reach a wider audience. The advertisement source is tracked as consumers respond and capture offers, enabling advertisers to learn which advertisements are most effective in driving transactions.

Dynamic Targeting - Advertisers can target offers by age, gender, location and other attributes, ensuring their offers are most relevant to their intended audience.

One to One Offers - Advertisers can deliver unique offers to individuals that have previously interacted with their offers on Cellfire.

Cellfire 3.0 is now available to more than 170 million cell phone users across most carriers and handsets.

If you're hardcore, you use nothing but the Super Soaker, which was first introduced in 1989 and has evolved into personal water cannons that seem capable of blasting holes in concrete. Hyperbole aside, they've come a long way, and iSoaker has a very cool interactive, clickable chart showing the evolution of the world's most popular water gun. Which one was your favorite?
OLATHE, Kan./PR Newswire Garmin International Inc., a unit of Garmin Ltd. (NASDAQ: GRMN), the global leader in satellite navigation, announced the DC 30, a completely redesigned GPS dog tracking...

OLATHE, Kan./PR Newswire — Garmin International Inc., a unit of Garmin Ltd. (NASDAQ: GRMN), the global leader in satellite navigation, announced the DC™ 30, a completely redesigned GPS dog tracking collar for use with the Astro GPS Dog Tracking System. The new collar is more rugged and its antennas are positioned differently for optimal tracking.

“The new DC 30 collar is designed to stand up to the torturous abuse of hunting dogs. Whether it’s hounds crashing through thick and swampy woods, or bird dogs bounding through dense CRP fields, the DC 30 is made to take the beating that working dogs dish out daily,” said Dan Bartel, Garmin’s vice president of worldwide sales. “And the new configuration also makes mounting the collar a cinch – while improving reception.”

The DC 30 collar’s main housing is weighted to sit below the dog’s neck, while a small, low-profile GPS antenna is integrated into the collar strap and positioned on top of the dog’s neck, providing a clear view of satellites with minimal rotation. The transmitter antenna originates from the lower housing, and has been redesigned for more flexibility and ruggedness. No counterbalance or harness is needed. The weight for the transmitter plus antenna is 4.1 ounces, and the entire DC 30 weighs just 8.7 ounces.

Used in conjunction with the Astro 220 receiver, the system pinpoints exactly where your dog is and what he’s doing – running, pointing, or treeing – even in dense cover, up to seven miles away, depending on terrain.

The Astro GPS Dog Tracking System requires very little configuration straight out of the box, and is extremely simple to use. Once the transmitter and receiver acquire a GPS signal, the receiver automatically lets users know the location of their dog. Unlike old radio telemetry collars, the Astro features a dog page that shows the precise direction and distance to a dog – even indicating if it is running, on point, or treeing quarry – and does it all without the annoyance of beeper collars. Unlike cellular tracking systems, there are no subscriptions or setup fees required to use the device.

Astro can track up to ten dogs per receiver at once, and the collar gives location updates every five, 10, or 30 seconds (user selectable). Battery life is 17-36 hours (based on update rate) on the rechargeable DC 30 collar and 24 hours on the Astro 220 receiver, which is powered by two AA batteries. Both the DC 30 collar and the Astro 220 receiver are completely waterproof.

The Astro also has a map page to illustrate where a dog is and where it has been – in relation to the hunter – and allows hunters to determine if they have covered nearby ground. Garmin’s unique Covey Counter™ lets hunters mark the precise location, time of day, and elevation where they encountered their quarry – and users can easily note the number of birds flushed and how many were taken. The Astro also comes packed with new hunting-specific icons, to easily mark and identify bird flushes, treed raccoons, food plots, tree stands, cover, ATVs, and other outdoor-related features.

Besides being a state-of-the-art dog tracking device, the Astro is also a full-featured handheld GPS based on the GPSMAP® 60CSx, with a sunlight-readable color display and a highly sensitive GPS receiver that works even under a thick tree canopy or in deep canyons. So when the hunting season is over, the Astro can pull double-duty for hiking, boating, or car trips.

The Astro has a microSD card slot that allows users to insert optional pre-programmed topo maps or road maps, which can be invaluable in an unfamiliar area. Topo maps give hunters an idea of the most productive areas to hunt, while road maps feature the same basic functions as an automotive GPS navigation unit – even in rural areas. The optional road map data can also give turn-by-turn directions to motels, gas stations, restaurants, and even veterinarians.

The Astro also calculates area, which is ideal for determining the acreage of a piece of property or the exact size of a food plot. The unit has location-specific sunrise/sunset and moonrise/moonset tables (ideal for determining legal hunting hours) and a hunting and fishing calendar that suggests the best times to be out in the field.

The new DC 30 collar is included as part of the Astro GPS Dog Tracking system, which also contains an Astro 220 receiver, user’s manual, power/data cables, Trip & Waypoint Manager CD, and a carrying case for a suggested retail price of $649.99. The DC 30 tracking collar sold separately is $199.99. The DC 30 collar is compatible with current Astro GPS Dog Tracking Systems as well. For current Astro DC20 owners wishing to upgrade to the DC 30, Garmin is offering a $50.00 rebate for a limited time only.

Garmin has also developed a new Astro portable long range antenna, sold separately. The accessory is designed to increase the range of the hunter’s handheld receiver, by up to three miles. When a dog travels outside the Astro’s range, the antenna can be lengthened to over a meter and attached directly to the Astro 220 via a one-meter coaxial cable. The antenna features a molded handle and lanyard, and measures just a quarter meter long when stored – small enough to be carried in a hunting vest when not in use. The handheld antenna has a list price of $69.99.

The DC 30 is expected to be available in third quarter 2008.

Cellular News is reporting that Telefónica has announced the launch of a single global platform for Mobile Advertising, via a global deal with Amobee Media Systems - the idea is that there will be a single point of contact for agencies and advertisers wanting to deploy to the 170mn customers it has!

The single centralised ad server enables precise contextual and behavioural targeting across all users on all handsets for all non-voice related applications and services including WAP banners, games, video and music players, applications, messaging (SMS & MMS), ring back tones as well as video & music streaming.

Telefónica retains complete control of the solution which means that each operating business will have access to customer data, localisation, behavioral profiles and the opt-in database. The business will then instruct the Ad-Server to deliver a relevant ad to customers with a certain profile and handset type.

The advertising impressions from the Amobee platform occur in a relevant, contextual and non-intrusive manner, thus giving the users control over the engagement. The alliance with Amobee will enable Telefónica to fund its growing number of mobile data services, while ensuring that customers get better value, as well as a richer mobile experience.

Wow, that IS a big deal! The rollout is going to start in the UK, Spain, Mexico, and Colombia for this year, and then spread to the remainder of the Telefónica OpCos in 2009.

Japanese interactive content providers am3 [JP] and DaiNippon Printing started DSvision [JP] today, a fee-based service bringing anime and manga to owners of the Nintendo DS. DSvision was announced last year but pushed back a couple of times since then.

DSvision requires a hardware package for $38, which includes a 512mb microSD card, a DSvision card adapter for connection to the DS and a USB reader/writer. Users can download content with a PC onto the microSD card, and watch or read that content on their DS later.

DaiNippon Printing and am3 sell manga, anime episodes and text novels for prices ranging from 94 cents to $9.40 per download. There are 9 novels, 34 manga and 8 anime available at the moment but new content is uploaded every hour. The site will eventually offer 1,000 different titles within a year. DaiNippon Printing and am3 are hoping to win 2 million customers in the same time frame.

Unfortunately, DS owners living outside Japan cannot use DSvision and the site doesn’t mention any plans regarding the possibility of an international version.

In spite of the world being a global village and in spite of we being able to keep in touch with our near and dear ones, occasionally we would like to glance upon photos of those who are close to your heart but not present physically. You may have heard of nostalgia, but you may not have heard of Saudade, a Portuguese term for a feeling that has no equivalent in any of the modern languages. Saudade is not just nostalgia but a longing for something or someone that you were fond of and that which you lost. So, what better way to immortalize those precious moments than to have a hi-tech digital photo organizer, which is different from the rest available in the market. LifeMap is a touch-screen digital photo storing and organizational system with the help of which you can organize and tag your photos with names of people, places, situations and any keyword that you can think of.

Probably you could document your child’s growth from infancy to adolescence, which could result in Saudade more than nostalgia. LifeMap also has that intimate feeling while you interact with it, and makes the storing and organizing of family photos can become a joyous experience. With the help of it’s interactive interface and touch-screen features, LifeMap has made it possible for you store and organize those special moments in such a way that you are never going to miss them again nor or you going to miss the absence of loved ones

This game station would make a great gift for a teenage girlfriend or daughter or even young at heart, more mature women (like me!). This pretty piece is a bluetooth enabled interactive gaming console disguised as a necklace!

To use it, you simply detach the crystal pendant from the necklace and attach it to your game station. You can then communicate with your friends that also have the Crystal gaming station. Cool fun!
