There's not many laptops that can power more than one external display, but Fujitsu-Siemenes' Amilo Graphic Booster is an attractively designed external box with an ATI Radeon HD 3870with 512MB of memory built-in. It connects to your laptop via an external PCI-E cable, and once connected can drive up to three external monitors, as well as function as a simple 2-port USB hub.

Though there's no price, I really love this: I'm a firm believer in having as much screen real estate as possible, and my laptop is actually my main machine, even when I'm seated at a desk. Unfortunately, it looks like you need to buy its sister notebook to use it, the Amilo Notebook SA 3650. A pity, though there's no doubt Fujitsu makes fine laptops: I'd just like to see a cross-platform model.

Inrix is stepping up their game and partnering with Networks in Motion the white label provider of navigation and now traffic by Inrix to millions of subscribers to mobile phone users. The service is well known as VZ Navigator from Verizon, as well as others in a long client list, including, AAA Mobile® on Verizon, AT&T, Sprint,

Networks in Motion cites traffic as the most asked for feature, and Inrix is now providing that to these users who can check the routes and traffic impacts from just about anywhere.

Inrix has hundreds of thousands of GPS probes out there giving them a read on traffic conditions on nearly a million miles of roads. One has to wonder if in providing the traffic service to NIM, Inrix might have reciprocal access to the millions of users of the service giving Inrix a more powerful service. I don't have any confirmation; just wondering.

Networks In Motion (NIM), the award-winning wireless navigation, hyper-local search and location-based services (LBS) company with the largest mobile phone navigation subscriber base in North America, and INRIX®, the leading provider of traffic information, today announced a premium data partnership. NIM will use Total Fusion Traffic data from INRIX to enhance its AtlasBook Navigator™ application for mobile devices, empowering the AtlasBook user with the most accurate ETAs, optimal route recommendations and timely traffic alerts available on the market.

AtlasBook Navigator is a white-label navigation software platform available to wireless carriers for GPS-enabled mobile phones featuring local search and other LBS applications. With maps, local directories and turn-by-turn directions with voice guidance, AtlasBook Navigator transforms the mobile phone into a personalized travel guide.

"Traffic is one of the most requested features from our mobile navigation customers," said Doug Antone, president and CEO of Networks In Motion. "We're excited to now offer INRIX's unique, routing-optimized traffic service to our carriers and partners, which will further improve the customer's experience, enhancing AtlasBook with INRIX's broad market coverage, high quality and collaborative approach."

The combination of INRIX Total Fusion Traffic with AtlasBook's turn-by-turn routing application provides speed information on 800,000 miles of roadways, including busy city streets and arterials, in addition to freeways and highways across the U.S. INRIX's unique, routing-optimized traffic intelligently produces highly accurate traffic data by combining real-time information from the largest GPS probe network in the world - featuring nearly a million GPS-enabled taxis, service vehicles, airport shuttle services and other commercial vehicles as well as consumer cellular GPS-based devices - with traditional road sensor information.

NIM has the largest mobile phone navigation subscriber base in North America, surpassing three million paid users. Navigation applications powered by Networks In Motion are currently available through major wireless carriers in North America to customers who purchase a GPS-enabled mobile phone and subscribe to the navigation application, which is commonly branded by the carrier.

"Millions of consumers rely on the information provided by Networks In Motion before, during and after their commutes," commented Bryan Mistele, president and CEO of INRIX. "We are proud to partner with NIM - a clear leader in the industry - to provide compelling solutions to help ease commutes all over the country."

If you are looking for the best projector for the best price, then you need to look at this list of the top ten projectors of 2008, presented by Wow Rebates. They have compiled ten of the best projectors designed for everything including home theater, business, and portable use. The list ranges from big fixed projectors to small portable models and come from some of the leading manufacturers in the projector industry.

First on the list is the InFocus X6 ($429). This model features 2000 ANSI lumens, an 1800:1 contrast ratio, and a SVGA (800 x 600) resolution. The X6 utilizes the latest BrilliantColor technology to output true-to-life colors and shades through a wide, short throw lens, providing big image flexibility to smaller rooms.

Next is the Epson PowerLite S5 ($599), which features 2000 ANSI lumens, a 400:1 contrast ratio, and the same SVGA resolution as the X6. This projector is light weight (5.8 lbs), which makes it perfect for family vacations and other trips.

Another model is the EX530 ($679) from Optoma. This projector displays 2600 ANSI lumens, a 2500:1 contrast ratio, and a native XGA (1024 x 768) resolution. The EX530 is not only portable but versatile with an optical zoom and vertical keystone adjustment.

The ViewSonic PJ559D ($1279) features 2700 ANSI lumens a 2000:1 contrast ratio, and a XGA resolution. This model is very similar to the Optoma model mentioned earlier. The PJ559D is designed for conference rooms and classrooms and comes with the WPG-150 Wireless G Presentation Gateway that provides wireless connectivity for your laptop.

The next projector on the list is another ViewSonic model, the PJ556D ($874). This model features the same 2000:1 contrast ratio and XGA resolution as the PJ559D, but comes with only 2000 ANSI lumens. The PJ556D is designed to be flexible with multiple inputs including RGB, composite, component, and s-video.

Passing the halfway point, we come to the NEC NP100 ($499) DLP projector. This model can display a native SVGA resolution, a 1200:1 contrast ratio, and 2000 ANSI lumens, which is good for a dimly lit room. The NP100 weighs 5.3 lbs, which makes it ideal for any traveling presenter.

Epson is back again on the list, this time with the PowerLite 77c ($649) projector that features XGA resolution, a measly 400:1 contrast ratio, and 2200 ANSI lumens. This model feature one of the fastest start up and shut down periods on the list, thanks to Epson’s Instant Off function. The 77c is also easy to use as is the standard for all Epson projectors.

Planar offers a little more powerful projector with their PR6022 ($999). This model comes with a native XGA resolution, 2500 ANSI lumens, and an 1800:1 contrast ratio. The PR6022 is also one of the lightest projectors in the list, weighing only 3.2 lbs. The projector comes with a remote control, all the necessary cables and a convenient carry case that fits everything nice and neat.

Another excellent portable projector is the Vivitek D732MX ($999) projector. This model comes with its own carrying handle that eliminates the need for a case. The projector features XGA resolution, a 2100:1 contrast ratio and 3200 ANSI lumens, which makes this model the brightest on the list.

Lastly on the list is the Sharp DT-510 ($2499). This is the only projector on the list to feature a native HD (1280 x 720) resolution. The 510 also displays a 4000:1 contrast ratio and 1000 ANSI lumens. In addition, this projector comes with an HDMI input as well as two component, two composite, an s-video, and a RGB connection.

It looks like Acer is the newest company to jump into the pocket projector pool. Recently, they announced that their K10 pocket projector will be released sometime in January. The K10 uses the same DLP display technology that is used in the Optoma Pico projector and the Toshiba pocket projector. Acer’s model is a little more box shaped than the other models and weighs only 1.2 lbs. The K10 features a 1000:1 contrast ratio as well as an SVGA (800 x 600), which is one of the higher resolutions found in the pocket projector category. The projector does not have any composite connections, but instead comes with an s-video and a VGA connection. The K10 uses an LED as a lamp source that provides both low energy consumption and an estimated 20000 hour lamp life. Acer has not announced if the K10 has an internal battery, but it can be powered by connecting it to your laptop or PC, instead of using a power cord. Acer plans to retail this projector for about £299 ($443).

Hammacher Schlongmeister, purveyor of the utterly ridiculous, is selling a gas-powered snowboard this year. Because, you know -- shit, beats me.

This is the gas-powered vehicle that combines the thrill of riding a snowmobile and the freedom of a snowboard, enabling you to surf effortlessly over the deepest fresh powder or on packed, granular snow. Powered by a 6 1/2-hp four-cycle gasoline engine that starts with a pull, it can accommodate riders up to 250 lbs. and has a maximum speed of 18 mph, operating up to two hours on only 3/4-gallon of gasoline.

All that and it'll only set you back $2,000. They're practically giving them away! And as a guy who's broken his arm snowboarding, I've got to admit: two grand is a small price to pay to shatter it again. *CRUNCH* I can see the bone!

The 3M MPro110 was one of the first pocket projectors to be released to the consumer market. This mini projector features VGA (640 x 480) resolution and LCoS display technology. It comes with a VGA port as well as a video port for composite devices. Recently, IT Business released their review of this micro model. Their initial thought about the MPro110 was, “Do you have a projector in your pocket, or are you just happy to see me?” The MPro110 weighs only 0.3 lbs and measure in at 4.5″ x 2.0″ x 4.5″ (W x H x D). They could easily see how nice this projector would be to anyone who has a portable device including, mobile phones and cameras. Connecting the projector was easy and it responded in a matter of seconds to the connected device. The image was also decent as they shinned it onto a piece of paper to test the sharpness and color quality. The major problem that the writers had with this projector was with the battery. The projector comes with an internal battery that can run for about 60 minutes before needing recharged. The writers didn’t think that the two hours it took to charge the battery was not worth the weights if you could only the use the projector for hour. Their final thought about the MPro110 was, “I can imagine how useful it would be for the salesman who needs to display a slideshow at any time, or a photographer who needs the option to share photos with people or even review the images themselves. This is definitely not an entertainment device, as the projected image just doesn’t have the candle power, the resolution, or the color quality to properly display video. But it is certainly adequate for graphics and photos. ”

If the top three 3LCD projectors weren’t to your liking, then you might want to see what AV Reviews have listed as their best pick for home theater projectors. Recently, they have released their recommendations for the best projectors this holiday season. Each of these projectors is unique in their own way.

The first projector on the list is the BenQ W500. This model features 1100 ANSI lumens, a 5000:1 contrast ratio, and an HD (1280 x 720) resolution. The W500 is one of cheapest projectors on the list, retailing for about $849. It has excellent motion control and an impressive brightness, but the black levels are very average in comparison to the other models on the list. The W500 come with all the connections you would need for your home, including an HDMI, component, composite, s-video, and a RGB connection.

The next projector is the Epson EMP-TWD10. This model features a built-in DVD player as well as 1200 ANSI lumens, HD (1280 x 720) resolution, and a 1000:1 contrast ratio. Weighing only 15 lbs, this projector can easily be moved to any room in the house or even outside. The only downside to this model is that the image quality is rather low and could be a whole lot better.

The Sanyo PLV-Z5 is the third projector on this list. It features HD (1280 x 720) resolution, 1100 ANSI lumens, and a 10000:1 contrast ratio. This model feature dual HDMI inputs as well as a RGB, composite, component, and an s-video connection. The Z5 is a relatively quiet running projector with only a 22 dB noise level. The only major concern about this projector is that it is difficult to balance the brightness and contrast in order to display the best picture possible.

Lastly, there is the InFocus Play Big IN80 projector. This model is the best model in the whole bunch. It features 1300 ANSI lumens, a 7500:1 contrast ratio, and is the only model in the list to feature full HD (1920 x 1080) resolution. The IN80 has an almost perfect combination of brightness, contrast, and resolution to create one of the best home theater experiences you could have. The only major weak point with the IN80 is that it tends to be a little noisy. Unfortunately, the IN80 is also the most expensive projector on this list, retailing for about $2300.
