Lenovo Mobile continues to use the Lenovo brand for the production of mobile phones. Recall that at the beginning of this year, Lenovo Lenovo Mobile has sold some of Hony Capital, but her name continues to live in the mobile world.

<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 222px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_h5hOmDEy1n4/STcIiFL-XwI/AAAAAAABAv8/RsFOWNKoDBQ/s320/p80.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5275694870088802050" />

The new phone Lenovo P80 is a camp-cot provided in a variety of colors. As the functionality of it is quite simple. Among the functions there is no GPS, no support for two SIM-cards, so popular in China, but it is quite pleasant and attractive in appearance.

Camp-cot is equipped with two screens - 2.8-inch TFT main and 1-inch external OLED, has a 2-MP camera, memory card slot format microSD, FM-radio, support for GSM cellular networks and interface Bluetooth.

File this under rumors, but since we’ve already heard China Mobile is preparing to launch its own AppStore-kind-of-service, we do believe there’s some merit in this story as well — apparently, the world’s largest mobile operator in terms of number of subscribers is working on its mobile OS.

And since I mentioned China Mobile’s AppStore plans, that was confirmed by the company’s CEO Wang Jianzhou, who said: “We will set up our own shop and encourage content providers to offer their own applications via our application shop,” during his keynote session at this year’s GSMA Mobile Asia Congress.

Back to the mobile OS “thing.” It is said that it will be known as “Ophone” and that it will be launched soon — according to Interfax China, the first such devices are expected to launch in the first-quarter of next year. The rumor goes on suggesting China Mobile is already working with manufacturers - Lenovo is reportedly one of them.

The Ophone is described as a customised product that will embed a series of China Mobile’s services. It is a product of China Mobile’s strategy to compete with handset makers which push their own services bundled with phones (i.e. Nokia with its Ovi offering).

Finally, it’s the Android that will most likely be used as a basis for the Ophone, which is a good thing considering this move could/will significantly increase the interest for the platform — this is not to say Android is some under dog no one knows about.

The special photo, which does not have to be of high quality, is processed so that the key areas are enhanced and the contrast levels are adjusted to the expectations of the software.

Dong Ngo of CNET recently underwent a Skype demonstration with a BKIS technician. The technican then captured a photo of Ngo's face, and produced a special "unflattering" photo five minutes later using a special algorithm. Ngo was able to use the photo to log in to his Lenovo Y430. The technician later then demonstrated this procedure on similar Asus and Toshiba notebooks.

In lieu of fingerprint scanning and the tradional username/password combination, face recognition software may not be the most secure way to protect data. Until then, I'll just use my own "specially" produced photos (courtesy of Photoshop) to tweak that, uh, zit, maybe even change my eye color—ooh instant nose surgery—to log me in. But only after I post that photo of "myself" on my Facebook profile. Hah!
Computer manufacturer Lenovo has joined forces with Intel and security-software publisher Absolute Software to develop a program that will see future selected Lenovo laptops come equipped with anti-theft technology. We aren't talking about sending a text message to lockdown the laptop, but will focus on Intel's Anti-Theft PC Protection hardware instead. Being part of the vPro Technology component of the Centrino 2 platform, this special hardware will empower specially equipped Lenovo T400 14.1" laptops with subscriptions to Absolute's Computrace security-software service. The IT admin has the power to choose to configure the anti-theft technology to lock an individual laptop if it fails to "check in" over the internet to the Absolute Monitoring Center within a specified period of time, and if the laptop has been reported as stolen, the admin can designate it to be locked instantly. Those who choose not to pick up a Computrace subscription, the Intel Anti-Theft PC Protection hardware still works great by locking a laptop after a predetermined number of failed password attempts. Expect to see the first batch of security-enhanced T400s will ship later this December.

Zumobi, a company which we know for its Windows Mobile work, is going iPhone. They announced a free, native iPhone app called Ziibii, allowing users to stay in-touch and in-the-loop with “friends, photos and the world around them.” The application blends popular social networks along with web content (RSS) into an interesting view (they call it a “fresh experience”), which you can see from the screenshot above.

From the official release:

Ziibii enables real-time social interaction between users across a variety of popular social media applications, as well as on-going discovery of news, stories and blogs throughout the day. Displayed on the screen of the handset, Ziibii’s visual expression metaphor is a river with content “rafts” floating with the user’s pre-defined content, including direct-connect to social networking sites and RSS feeds.

Obviously they (ZuMobi) want to make some money out of advertising. Hence, they argue, once the application becomes popular, an opportunity will emerge for brands which could “seamlessly immerse” their logo/offering into content flow, hence becoming part of the “user’s on-going engagement and product experience.”

You can download Ziibii from AppStore using this link. Alternatively, you may want to check out a demo video of Ziibii in action, which follows after the jump.

China Mobile does not want to miss out on making its own smartphone, and this model will be powered by an operating system based on the Android OS and will work over their very own TD-SCDMA network. This new device has been dubbed the Onephone - hopefully it will cost a dollar, too, but who am I kidding? It will apparently be similar to the iPhone in concept, and Lenovo has a very good chance of being the hardware manufacturer. Well, as long as the battery in this smartphone doesn't spontaneously combust while one is having a conversation, count us in.

Cyber Monday is here and the boss is still dazed and confused from the endless mouth stuffing over the Thanksgiving holiday. Should you take charge in the meeting and offer your qualified advice to the sleepy and listless work brigade? Of course not.

Instead, we recommend you take advantage of the slow work day and sneak your way to the dozens of sites offering good deals on your favorite gadgets.

We've pored over a few of the deals since they started coming in this morning and picked some of our favorites and sorted by site. If there are other deals you think are worth mentioning, please let us know in the comments.

Amazon.com

Leatherman Micra Multitool - $12.99 (last price: $29) It’s the Leatherman for the price of a movie ticket. No need to explain, really. But here's one reason.

Black & Decker 8-Inch auto wrench - $25.49 (last price: $51.19)

Sony VAIO laptop (4 GB RAM, 250 GB Hard Drive, Blu-ray drive, Vista Premium OS) - $799.99 (last price: $1,199) Quality laptop, even if it has all that lovable extra crapware you need to erase once you get it.

Skullcandy Smokin' Buds Earbud Headphones - $10. The lowest price these 'buds have seen in their lifetime. Buy three to stuff in your kid's stocking. Then, in your own stocking, start up an investment fund to pay for their hearing aids 20 years from now.

Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ28K (10MP Digital Camera, 18x Wide Angle MEGA Optical Zoom) - $280 (last price: $400)

Dell.com

Studio 15 (15” notebook) – $700 (last price: $919). Dependable laptop maker with an OK new design and a fine price makes it an OK deal. Specs: Intel Core 2 Duo (2.00 GHz/800Mhz FSB/2MB cache), Windows Vista Home Premium OS, 15.4 WLED widescreen display (1280 x 800), 3GB DDR2 at 800MHz, 320GB Hard Drive.

XPS m1530 -15” laptop – $1200 (last price: $1807). This version of the XPS-brand of Dells isn't quite the line's showstopper, but for the price, the modern design, and the quality specs (on the mid-level of the gaming spectrum), it's a good deal to us. Specs: Intel Core 2 Duo (2.5 GHz/800Mhz FSB, 6MB Cache) Windows Vista Home Premium Edition SP1, 15.4 inch widescreen LCD (1440 x 900), 2MP Camera, 4GB DDR2 at 667MHz, 320GB Hard Drive.

Sharp LC-32SB21U 32” 720p Widescreen LCD - $500 + free shipping. This is among the lowest prices we’ve seen this TV reach in its short lifetime. With a 7,500:1 dynamic contrast ratio and 450 cd/m² brightness, it's a pretty good energy-saving LCD that'll last long enough to ride out the recession. Or, until you find a better position that's impervious to layoffs and will pay you enough to afford the upcoming 30-inch OLED TVs. Good luck with that!
