Shoveling snow looks like a hell of a job at the best of times, but when faced with commercial sized buildings, apparently it’s so bad it takes up to 25 men to get the job done. That’s where the humorously named “Roofus” comes in.

Roofus is happy to take the job on single handed, collecting and dumping the snow via remote or autonomously. When there’s no snow to move, Roofus can be fitted out with a variety of attachments for more mundane tasks such as mowing and cleaning. Joyriding is not recommended, but who could resist?
It features two electric motors, caterpillar tracks, and sensors on each side of its body for navigation, tips the scales at a touch over 100kg it’s and can take 250kg per load.

Unity Peg's unconventional graphics of conventional domestic products printed on tea towels and tablecloths are an easy way to liven up kitchens with modern graphic flair. The brainchild of an Australian husband-and-wife duo, their goal with Unity Peg it to explore visual ideas and carry them out on textiles, making the mundane household item modern and relevant again.

Beginning with the "Wash Up" series, furniture designer Jane Atfield and artist Robert Shepherd created a range of tea towels which boast bold colors and simple outlines of items like cleaning supplies and plumbing. Their acute sense for captivating color schemes and interesting compositions is apparent from their initial series to their latest, which features playful graphics of various weather elements. Included in their collection is a customizable tea towel, offering the important date of your choice in large block numbers.

Designed to evoke emotion, the tablecloth "Picnic" encourages people to dine together outside or to bring about a sense of nature indoors if used as a wall hanging. Even more curious though are Utility Peg's self adhesive wall stickers, a collection of high quality cut-outs that range from animals to musical instruments. Easy to apply to a variety of smooth surfaces, they are great for decorating a child's room or adding a bit of character to a lackluster wall, the perfect example below in which Unity Peg was commissioned to brighten up the Great Ormond Street Hospital in London.

I don’t get it. No, I really don’t. If Asus Eee PC is meant as a mass-market device does this mean ASUS R50a UMPC is like its polar opposite? Because the price is a far, far cry from the price of the well-known Eee PC.

The ASUS R50a UMPC has a tag price of US$1,839. No, I didn’t add a number to that figure. This UMPC really does cost that much for a reason only the company knows. I mean sure, it’s touch screen and has both 3G and WiFi, but so do more affordable devices, such that the combination has almost become a norm. OK, it does come with a wireless keyboard and an external optical drive, but I can pick those out somewhere and not even justify a fourth of the price of this gadget. The other specs are even more mundane – 32GB SSD, Windows Vista OS, 3.5 hours battery life, 1.33GHz Intel Atom processor and Bluetooth connection. While we do wonder at the price of the device, it’s not like we’ll even be tempted to get one – the ASUS R50a UMPC is offered in Spain by Madrid-based company Informatic.

Most of us have a pretty boring routine. Designer Andy Kurovets had some fun with that fact with this watch that leads the user through the six stages of their average day. It starts with Wake Up!, then leads us through our commute. Next we are sitting at a PC at work, before eventually returning home to watch TV and finally going to bed.

Each stage lights up red at the proper time of day, so you know where you should be. If that’s too depressing for you, or if you get amnesia and forget your daily grind, it also features a regular readout of hours and minutes. It’s just a concept, but it’s a watch that fits most peoples mundane schedule.

Most of us have a pretty boring daily routine, so designer Andy Kurovets decided to make fun of that fact with a watch that leads us through the six stages of an average person's day. Starting with Wake Up!, the watch leads us through our commute and sitting at a PC at work, before returning home to watch TV and going to bed. Each stage turns red at the proper time, so you know where you should be at any given moment. For those with less mundane lives there's also a regular readout of hours and minutes, or you could get this more sociable take on the same basic idea.

For now the Cycle Life watch is just a fun concept.

The packaging it comes in, however, is another matter.

A ridiculously elaborate and frankly huge set of interlocking parts which do nothing so much as take up valuable space in a shipping container. ... SanDisk feels the need to pad the package so the buyer will have something substantial to fill his or her shopping bag. So, how bad is it? Using my computer's handy on-screen ruler, I checked the dimensions....

And on he goes, uncovering worthless value-add within, such as a big complementary carrying case for a single compact flash card. Also, he introduces a new unit of measurement, the Standard International rubber dinosaur.

CNN's election night talking heads won't be yapping against a boring green screen. No sir, they will be 3D holograms beamed into the studio next to Wolf Blitzer, making it seem as if they are actually there. While it's not surprising that bringing this bit of sci-fi magic to the more mundane arena of guys with large heads huffing and puffing about politics and numbers is an impressive technical feat, it's kind of amazing just how much comes together to make it happen.

The dude being beamed across the country next to Wolf will have 44 cameras trained on him, with 20 computers in his location crunching the video feeds to produce 360-degree imaging data. All of that stuff is sent to New York, where the images are processed and projected by another array of cams and comps. then, plasma TVs back in Chicago and Phoenix will let the interviewees see Wolf and the other CNN people. CNN can project two different views from each city, so Wolf can be flanked by two different holograms.

Man, I so know where I'm watching the election coverage. The future.
Not for you the mundane, boring baby bag. You prize the Mondrian-inspired Chelsea Boi collection, named after the artsy NY area and the 60s Page Boy haircuts (think Twiggy.)

Made from patent vinyl, the bags range from clutch-stylish to weekender bags, and this stylish baby bag. Bright and cheerful, it boasts 2 exterior zipper pockets, 2 exterior end pockets and a detachable shoulder strap .

It won't replace your diaper bag though - it doesn't have a changing pad built in and the outside pockets won't fit a bottle. But, as it's completely waterproof, it makes a great second bag. Afterall, as we all know, we usually travel with a U-Haul full of stuff for baby.
