Oh Pleo, it's been far too long since we've seen you out and about! Thankfully, we've stumbled upon a handful of Pleo news all at once, so we hope you're ready to catch up with your favorite dinosaur. Liquid Image's underwater digital camera mask now available... in Japan

What's up with Japan getting all the cool toys first? Yeah, we can claim little victories like Pleo and basketball (shared with Canada, some say), but the ~~two~~ 1.5 of those don't even come close to measuring up to Her Cuteness. Differences aside, we're thrilled to see that Liquid Image's underwater digital camera mask is available anywhere after missing its March launch date by quite a bit. These face-swallowers pack a 3.1- or 5.0-megapixel CMOS sensor, LCD screen, 16MB of built-in memory, a microSD card slot, a USB port and even a VGA video mode. It's supposedly available as we speak in Tokyo and the surrounding 'burbs for just over $100, and yes, the urge to import is extraordinarily high.

Last night, David Letterman had some expensive toys at his disposal. He checked out the Pleo, then he got to test drive a crazy, $1,000 remote control monster truck. Naturally, the docile, innocent Pleo wasn't going to fare well in such an environment. Oh, Letterman, you cruel bastard!

Rovio: Spy Robot with Wi-Fi

Rovio is a robot equipped by webcam. Applies WiFi technology which controlled by streaming media. With this gadget, you can watch special places, family, looking after animal and house from everywhere.

To ease the spying, Rovio is equipped by camera with elastic handle. It’s bendable to all directions. More, anything seen and heard by Rovio, you can know also through its display in PC, video game device or cellphone through the internet network.

Via NorthStar Navigation software help, that integrated with micro GPS system, Rovio automatically can reach the target or knows the location of object accurately, via the guidance of this navigation mapping systems.

WowWee, makers of fine programmable robotic toys, is stepping back a bit with the "Alive" series of animatronic beasts sporting realistic skeletons that move according to how much attention they're given. You can't load custom Java code onto this White Tiger Cub though, so if that's your thing, stick with the RoboSapiens or, perhaps, an equally cuddly Pleo, which has its own upcoming SDK. The cub does have plenty of movements in its repertoire though, and it's kind of creepy to watch.

I'm a sucker for animatronic noises. They always make me laugh for some reason.
