Are you looking for an affordable gift that doesn’t look too cheap and yet manages to keep the recipient happy? I suppose the Busbi Digital Video Camera would fit the bill perfectly.

Slimmer than a dieting supermodel, the battery-operated Busbi has just 4 buttons: On/Off, Delete, Playback and Record. Even your nan could use it (once you’ve told her it’s a camera, not a newfangled remote for her heated rollers). A 2″ LCD screen means you can inspect your film masterpieces immediately and the nifty playback mode allows you to view/delete the last video captured. If you want to watch all the videos captured, simply USB the Busbi into your computer. You can even hook it up to the telly using the included AV cable. The head-scratchingly inexpensive Busbi comes with a 1GB SD card, giving around 60 minutes recording time, but for truly epic nights out you can upgrade to a 2GB card. Quite what you’re going to capture over the course of 2 hours is enough to boggle the mind. But don’t waste time rubbing your hands together in gleeful anticipation, get ordering and start Busbi-ing away for real. And…cut!

After all, what can £34.95 really get you these days? Guys won’t want to add yet another handbag to their ladies’ already formidable collection, making the Busbi Digital Video Camera the logical choice.

When we think celebrities, we think people who can do whatever they would want to. People who could get their way most of the time. People who have much to spend that they can just waste much of their resources on seemingly worthless stuff. But not all celebrities are like that.

There is actually a battle going on in the world of celebrities. And this is a green battle. People are asked to take part in a poll on who should take home the title of being the greenest celebrity. This is part of the Playing for the Planet Awards which has been organized by Playhouse Disney. The top three are Sienna Miller (actress), Leonardo DiCaprio (actor), and Madonna (singer).

The top three celebrities have been chosen from a lot of ten. The top ten included Lily Cole (supermodel), Emma Watson (actress), Gwyneth Paltrow (actress), Chris Martin (musician), Johnny Depp (actor), Stella McCartney (designer), Lily Allen (singer), and David Tennant (actor).

If you think the size of the throne is a measure of the size of the man, you should probably readjust your sense of self-worth. But if you love to show off your enormous wealth, this Emperor-size chair just might sate your thirst for powerful symbols. That is, until the next supermodel comes along.

The Novelquest Emperor is a fully rigged entertainment workstation system with three monitors, various communication devices, a powerful computer, and full-spectrum lights. It also rotates just like Emperor Palpatine's throne from Star Wars, and it can be pre-programmed to take the rotations for up to eight hours.

Despite this, the cost is absolutely irredeemable: About $40,000. For a Windows Vista version. You say you want a Mac in there? Add another grand.

Is there any way this thing is worth it? Check out the specs and you decide:

It includes three synchronized 19" LCD monitors (VGA, with vertical
scanning frequencies at 56 ~ 75 Hz.) Monitor resolution at 1280 x 1024.
A 7" LCD touch screen control center that adjusts the lights, the
airflow, and sounds (who knows what) emanating from the chair. When the
master decides to get in, on his time, the tail section of the chair
rises up, and then it flips down like a jet cockpit.

It also has a system at the level of a top gaming PC: An NVIDIA Quadro
FX 1600M 512MB TurboCache, TV Tuner, a 2.60 Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo T9300
processor, 4 GB of DDR2 memory, and a top Blu-ray drive.

Not done. It has Recaro seat with a vent in the headrest,
where a HEPA air purification system claims to reduce airborne bacteria
by 99.7%. I will stop now and say that there's more, but Emperor
Palpatine would strike me down from space.

Maybe I'm very wrong, but at quick glance, all of those items,
separately, should come in at around $10-15,000. So yes, this is the
type of object that is awe-inspiring and gut busting at the same time. But it's not life-giving, so I think I'll skip it.

How many other things you think you could buy with $40,000? Let us know in the comments below.

book of joe pointed out this girth-measuring centimeter belt. It's perhaps indicative of how obsessed with weight-loss I've become over the last couple months that this seems like something I actually want to add to my wardrobe. Not for any bragging rights, you understand. I'm not a supermodel. The circumference of my spinal column isn't something I feel proud enough to broadcast. Maybe if this were a banana hammock... but I digress.

The point is that when I first started dieting and working out, the most important thing to me was seeing pounds tick off the scale. But as I got in better shape, I realized that the scale would wildly oscillate by as much as five pounds, sometimes. At this point, I realized that my goal wasn't some subjective numeric poundage, but a Jenny Craig pant size: an image of me doing a karate kick in skin-tight leather while holding a 'before' set of MC Hammer style parachute pants aloft for comparison. I wanted to know more than if I'd lost or gained weight: I wanted to know if I'd broadened or shrunk.

In truth, I wouldn't exactly wear this belt out to the gentleman's club. But putting it on every morning and seeing how much closer I was to my end goal waist size would make things easier. Of course, a tape measure properly wrapped around one's mid-riff does the same job, less swankily... making this belt just an expensive little trinket satisfying no real need whatsoever except to the braggartly vain or the person who needs to be chic even whilst aprising the girth of their belly fat in the toilet.

But this MacBook Pro on eBay looks like it was literally beaten with an ugly stick before being left to rot in a vat of orc piss, and the dude's still asking $1295 (more than a brand new MacBook). For that, you get a 17-inch Core 2 Duo Tiger-based MBP that's covered in rust, missing the battery and plagued by a bum screen.

There's a certain demographic of PC user — the sort of guy who likes digging in the intertwined morass of computer drivers and hardware like a neuro-surgeon, his hands pushed up to the elbows in the pulsating effluvia of a patient's brainpan — who chalks up Apple's success entirely to aesthetic superficiality. To him, the average Mac fan is a foppish milquetoast too engorged from the huffing of Steve Jobs' perfumed rectum to see a computer as something more powerful and important than a mere fashion accessory.

These guys have a point. Style is definitely part of it. As a Mac-user, the fusion between OS X's lithe grace and the svelte flash of the computer itself a big part of the appeal. And I'm willing to pay premium for that. Call me shallow, but a pretty computer is simply more pleasant to use than an ugly one. That's why I don't personally brook the numerous Hackintosh projects, aimed at installing Leopard on PCs: no, I'm sorry, but a genius supermodel — her head opened, her brain meats slopped into the prepared vacuous skull of a gaseous manatee — is not quite as fuckable.

Interestingly, a company called Psystar is now trying to traffic that manatee with their OpenMac Apple clone computers. For $400, you get a 2.2GHz Core 2 Duo E4500 processor, 2GB of memory, integrated GMA 950 graphics, a 250GB hard drive and 20x DVD burner. For another $150, they'll install Leopard on the computer for you with the assistance of an EFI V8 Emulator. In short, they are selling Hackintoshes. Fat, ugly, decidedly awful looking Hackintoshes, but Hackintoshes all the same.

It's hard to imagine who these computers are aimed at. People who make their decisions purely by spec don't buy Macs. And you don't need to be a dedicated huffer to know that Apple's not going to like this: the Leopard EULA clearly forbids installing the OS on non-Apple computers, and Jobs himself axed official Mac clones when he returned to the company. Better hump the sea cow before the C&D, boys and girls.
