Nokia N95 gets a firmware update

A new software update is available for the Nokia N95. From what we can tell, it’s a major update as it brings the firmware version from 21.0.016 to 30.0.015.

As usual, the new update optimizes the device’s performance and improves the overall stability. Additionally, once the upgrade is completed the N95 has more software installed and some of the existing apps are updated. Here’s what’s changed:

LG’s exhibition booth, designed through collaboration with style and trend forecasting agency NellyRodi Trendlab, will feature a variety of themed mini-rooms all under the umbrella banner of “Eco-Chic Lifestyle.” Visitors will have a 20-minute journey through an ideal, ecological home where LG’s stylish-yet-ergonomic appliances create perfect emotional comfort and delight. LG’s show highlights include a series of trendsetting products such as washing machines, refrigerators, air conditioners, cooking appliances, built-in appliances, TVs and home cinema systems, all connected through its industry-leading HomNet home networking service, all designed to appeal to sophisticated audiences in Europe and beyond.

 Washing Machine Zone – As Clean and Green as Nature
LG has set its latest steam washing machines amidst a forest-like setting at Maison&Objet. LG’s steam washers are widely recognized as much for their energy- and water-efficiency as their washing performance. Moss, ferns, trees and enchanting artificial fireflies help reinforce these washers’ greenness. Some washers will be even redecorated with mirror mosaics to further emphasize this “back to nature” theme.

 Kitchen Room Zone – A Party in the Garden
LG’s Kitchen Room Zone at Maison&Objet feels warm and lively, like in the middle of a garden. With casual dining experiences provided at the booth through cooking demonstrations, visitors will feel like they are having a party in their backyard on a clear, sunny day with close friends. People can also fully experience LG’s stylish kitchen products including built-in appliances, refrigerators and ovens.

 Living Room Zone – Boudoir Style
LG has created a private resting place for its Living Room Zone. This living room can be a one-of-a-kind place for visitors as the room itself responds to their needs and conditions. The color and drape of the room, aroma inside the room and home cinema systems can all be perfectly controlled, right at their fingertips, through LG’s innovative home networking system. The ambiance of the room will give visitors the sense of being inside a lovely flower, or a private boudoir.

 Air Conditioner Zone – Pure and Invigorating
In this zone, a set of five ArtCool air conditioners with changeable front panels will represent one single work of art by showing pieces of photos by internationally well-known wildlife photographers on their front panels: Antarctica by Mitsuaki Iwago and a winter tree by Shin Yoshino. Visitors will find themselves standing in a recreated snowy field, replete with walls completely covered with white faux fur, feeling like they are in very pure, untouched world.

 Gateway - to the Ideal Home
Located at the threshold of LG’s booth, the Viewing Zone symbolizes a gateway to an ideal home made real by LG makes through the exhibition. With six LG6000 Scarlet TVs displaying coordinated visuals, visitors will have a glimpse into the rest of LG’s creative exhibition at Maison&Objet.

At the LG’s booth during Maison&Objet exhibition, a cooking demonstration will take place four times a day, offering special dishes cooked by a professional chef from Potel et Chabot using LG’s light wave SolarCUBE oven. In addition, LG will offer a trendy water bar and rest area for special guests, including visiting journalists, to further enhance the experience of enjoying a modern lifestyle with a sense of nature and peace of mind.

Based on JVC’s new proprietary 1.27-inch 10 megapixel D-ILA devices, the DLA-SH4K projects images at greater than 4 times the resolution and clarity of the industry's latest full high definition projectors. The higher resolution will bring a new level of reality to aircraft simulators, medical analysis, 3D display, command and control, museums, theme parks, and ultra high-end home theaters. The D-ILA devices used in the DLA-SH4K provide a native 4096 x 2400 resolution-multi-screen display modes that allow users to view up to four Full HD screens at a time. Pixel Drink Coasters Can Have Any 8-Bit Shape You Want [8-Bit]

These pixel drink coasters are made of paper and come in 50-unit packages for $8. Nothing special there until you notice that they have different shapes, which are not actually made at the factory: The coasters come in a single sheet, folded in 50 segments that you can cut in any way you want using the one-centimeter-long square perforations that divide each segment into 110 pixels. The results are beautiful, including an obligatory Space Invaders theme.

I finally got around to getting these Wordpress Themes cleaned up, organized and uploaded.

The first theme is just an Empty Wordpress Theme. This may seem a little silly, but you would be surprised at how many people want this to learn from.

The second theme is a Minimal Wordpress Theme that may not be the most beautiful theme you can find, but it is very functional and does very well on Niche sites where the primary focus is driving traffic from search engines and converting that traffic into income.

It has a shoe theme. And, while I did like the commercial, I didn't get the commercial. Is there any getting to be got? It seems like an old Seinfeld episode. Is Microsoft selling churros now? Microsoft Launches AutoCollage 2008 for Easier Digital Photo Collage Making

Today, Microsoft launched the AutoCollage 2008 application for digital image tweaking enthusiasts. Look, as much as we’d like to, not all of us are gifted with “mad Photoshop skillz.” Not only that, but not everyone has the time to sit down in front of the computer for hours to erase wrinkles and zits on faces, and of course, to create collages.

The Microsoft AutoCollage 2008 is an application that easily compiles pictures and creates collages out of them. The application uses various techniques such as face and object recognition so it could blend pictures and make them look seamless without accidentally slapping another picture on top of a key object. The AutoCollage 2008 can even choose an overall theme for the collage to avoid duplication of images.

The Microsoft AutoCollage 2008 is now available for a free 30-day trial download at Microsoft Research, with a licensed version available for purchase in the UK and in the US.

No surprise that JVC is showing off their own ultra high-def 10MP wonder projector, since JVC's D-ILA tech also powers the one we saw from Meridian a few weeks ago. That means it should deliver the same stunning 4,096x2400 resolution image—it's like IMAX in your house. Or you can watch up to four full HD screens at once. The D-ILA tech, with its ridiculous pixel density, is also what lets this thing be a whole 65 percent tinier than conventional ultra HD projectors.

You can stack two to increase the light output, though it generates 3500 ANSI Lumens already. It's also got an ethernet port, so you can control multiple projectors from your PC, and receive error reports by email. Price isn't mentioned, but the Meridian setup was $185,000, so you can use your imagination.

Denver, CO (September 3, 2008) – JVC unveils the world's smallest 4K2K ultra high definition projector, the DLA-SH4K. Based on the company's new proprietary 1.27-inch 10 megapixel D-ILA devices, the DLA-SH4K projects images at greater than 4 times the resolution and clarity of the industry's latest full high definition projectors. The higher resolution will bring a new level of reality to aircraft simulators, medical analysis, 3D display, command and control, museums, theme parks, and ultra high-end home theaters.

The DLA-SH4K will be unveiled at CEDIA September 3 – 6, 2008 and will be on display throughout the show in the JVC Theater located at The Denver Center for the Performing Arts next to the Denver convention center.

The projector's chassis achieves a remarkable 65% reduction in size compared with conventional projectors in its class. This was achieved in part by using JVC's latest 1.27-inch Direct Drive Image Light Amplifier (D-ILA) devices and a new optical system. D-ILA is a proprietary form of Liquid Crystal on Silicone (LCOS), a reflective technology that offers far greater pixel density than competing devices.

The D-ILA devices used in the DLA-SH4K provide a native 4096 x 2400 resolution—multi-screen display modes that allow users to view up to four Full HD screens at a time. A new optical design featuring an 825 Watt Xenon lamp generates a light output of 3500 ANSI Lumens and features adjustable lamp power that ranges from 825 to 660 watts.

Two DLA-SH4Ks can be stacked for increased light output. In addition, the projector can be inclined up to a ± 90-degree tilt angle and has a horizontal lens shift of ±25% and vertical shift of ±50%, which enables flexible installation.

The DLA-SH4K includes DVI-D (dual-link) x 4 input terminals that accept a wide variety of input resolutions. In addition to the RS-232C and USB connections, an Ethernet interface makes adjustment and installation from web browsers on PCs possible. Furthermore, networking allows multiple projectors to be operated with a single PC and an email function also enables the sending out of error messages and lamp replacement reminders.

JVC will offer two lenses for the projector, the GL-MS4015SZG 1.22x zoom lens for screens up to 300 inches, and the GL-MS4011SG short throw lens for screens up to 250 inches. Sidekick LX: A Star on the New 90210

Bada da da DA da da da da da Wa wa waa wee wah. . . get it?! It's the theme for 90210! Not the old Beverly Hills, 90210 of my young years, but the brand spankin' new 90210 that premiered last night. Truthfully, I tuned in to see Kelly Taylor and Brenda Walsh confront each other about Dylan McKay in their thirties, but I was equally intrigued with the new younguns, sure to challenge my teen drama TV cravings for Gossip Girl.

These new characters are certainly as techie — I was pleased to see Shenae Grimes's character pull out a Sidekick LX to read a text, since I like to think of Sidekicks as the smartphone for serious text messagers. Hopefully, this is just the beginning of geeky teens on the show!
