Except this looks a lot classier.

There aren't that many details about the Dal Dal available, but it's supposed to relay information from the internet into various colors. What information, we're not sure, but we're guessing that it's probably something like the weather, or stock prices, or something else that can be conveyed via a gradual scale. There's also audible alerts, which to us means you can use it for stuff new emails notificaions? We've no idea, but that all sounds logical until the company releases concrete info in Q1 2009.

Hurricanes, as we've seen, can wreak serious havoc when they strike populated areas. We've never had control over them before, but one researcher thinks they could be broken up with F-4 fighter jets.

In theory, sending in a pair of the jets to do loops around the eye of the hurricane while it's still out over the ocean, creating sonic booms, would break it up before it hits the shore.

Jet fighters flying at supersonic speeds along special trajectories with a hurricane/typhoon at various altitudes would create supersonic booms. In one such embodiment, the trajectories for the supersonic booms of the present invention are counter to the rotational component of the hurricane and/or typhoon being targeted. As such, supersonic booms can be tailored and/or designed to partially and/or fully -negate the basic rotational contribution in a hurricane by slowing down a hurricane's/typhoon's rotation. Additionally, when supersonic booms propagate downward to the surface of the ocean they also destabilize a hurricane's/typhoon's structure by increasing the pressure in the central part of a hurricane's/typhoon's eye.

It's a pretty crazy idea, but I guess it makes sense. It would be pretty amazing to be able to stop any hurricane before it hit shore, saving millions and millions of dollars and who knows how many lives. I can't wait for them to test this out.
It's getting cold outside, and that chilly air is trying to sneak into your house. This Black & Decker Thermal Leak Detector could help you save 20% on energy costs by showing you where those leaks are. Shining its magic light on trouble spots shows you temperature changes a small as 1 degree, the tiny spotlight turning blue when it finds a problem area.

Once you've identified those leaks, the hardest part is plugging them up. Black & Decker has a pretty good idea here: help customers identify problems that require Black & Decker tools to fix. Nice. But if you really could save 20% on heating and cooling, this $40 tool could pay for itself in no time. Too bad it won't be available until the coldest weather has already blown through — Spring, 2009.

Now the British are claiming the first teddy bear astronauts, who were photographed in space from a home-made vessel with two digital cameras, a flight computer, GPS, and radio.

The four cuddly astronauts travelled on board the spacecraft for two hours and nine minutes, reaching the 19 miles high mark powered by a latex weather ballon made by the Space Flight club at Cambridge University. They were wearing special suits made by school children, which saved them from freezing at -63.4º F. No, I'm not kidding. The team was investigating what materials would protect the furrynauts better.

If you haven't melted by now, you are not human.
The ibiza Rhapsody was one of those curious devices that spent so long in development that by the time it saw the light of day, the rest of the world had moved on to bigger and better things. Sure, we liked the device in theory (WiFi, Bluetooth, and support for Rhapsody and AOL Video are all good things), but its Gameboy-esque looks and mere 30GB storage pretty much guaranteed that it would never be a hit. Unfortunately, a quick look at Haier's new, "sportier" PMP doesn't give us much reason to reconsider the device. Aside from a rugged and weather-resistant new look (is "uglified" a word?), all it seems to offer us is diminished storage capacity. But wait -- all you ever wanted was a plastic orange MP3 player? Then it looks like you're in luck -- the 4GB model sells for $179, while the 8GB size will set you back a cool $199.

Those who believed that the benefits of advanced voice applications and multimedia are available only residents of mega-cities have to change their minds. Thanks to VoIP-carrier-class solution developed by Nortel specifically for regional operators, subscribers who are even in the remotest parts of the United States and Canada, will now be able to take advantage of the same services VoIP, as residents of major metropolitan centers.

Communication Server Nortel Communication Server (CS) 1500 has enabled more than 120 North American regional operators to bring telephony services to a qualitatively new level. Operators Goldfield Telephone (USA, Iowa) and Hood Canal Communications (USA, Washington) - this is just a few big names from the list of regional carriers that use the NGN solution from Nortel to overcome «the digital divide» in their regions and to provide the latest types of communications to their customers.

Multimedia software IP-switching CS 1500 has become a conduit for regional suppliers of the most modern and innovative VoIP-applications, such as «Automatic operator» (guaranteed to answer an incoming call) or «intelligent call» (effectively instantaneous switching calls to a mobile home and work phones).

The fourth version switchboard CS 1500 provides the introduction of more powerful, widely popular North American consumer applications. These include: integrated web portal that allows calls to make a single click directly through your address book, user-friendly Web access to voice mail, as well as weather forecasting service with access to a user's query to all the updates in real time. Furthermore, in keeping with the concept giperpodklyuchennosti prevailing in the modern business environment in the 4 th version of CS 1500 is implemented to connect VoIP services via cable modem. In so doing removed any time and space limitations to maintain the connection.

For operators based switches DMS-10, as well as other technologies, widespread today in the operator of telephone systems, such as DCO and EWSD, provides for cost-phased transition to CS 1500.

I’ve been doing a lot of traveling days between 3 states. While I do have my trusty GPS with me sometimes I wished I had the Garmin Nuvi 880. This is one of Garmin’s top of the line GPS systems available.

The sleek designs makes it leap ahead of other GPS brands. A 4.3 inch screen, nice and crisp resolution when viewing maps (and did i mention it has games, although, that’s a thinker!). Standard features include text-to-speech functionality (which means it will actually say street names), blue tooth connectivity (connecting to a wireless blue tooth headset or other blue tooth capable gadget), a complimentary 3-month subscription to MSN services (which means you have live data of point of interest info like movie theaters and movie times, weather, traffic news… a lot).

But what sets this GPS up high is it’s voice command capability. It understands 30 voice commands and has been one of the most accurate ones in the market today.

It’s a little pricey though at US$1,000 online, but with a little research you may be able to find an online seller for US$800.
